2016 Junior Netball Programme
ANZ futureFERNS is Netball New Zealand’s official junior Netball
programme for Year 1 - 8 children. The programme was developed to ignite a
lifelong involvement in Netball. The emphasis is on fun activities conducted in
a safe environment. This programme has been rolled out all over the country
by Netball NZ over the last 3 years. The feedback from the programme held
within our centre last year was very positive and encouraging.
This level introduces Netball to 5 & 6 year olds. The
aim is to develop fundamental movement and ball skills.
The 20minute game that follows the initial skill session is
played on one third of a full-size court, by teams of four,
with emphasis on equal participation. Modified
equipment is used.

This will provide parents/caregivers with information on the
programme, training on how to support the children’s
development and enjoyment in Netball. This is a free
workshop that will give you a taste for the programme.
Each school will require at least 2x people to participant in this
workshop.
When: Otorohanga Netball Courts
The focus for this age group is learning basic skills in a
modified game of 5-a-side, using two-thirds of a Netball
court. ANZ futureFERNS Year 3 & 4 is designed to
be fast and fun, maximising participation. Five players in
each team and rotating positions ensures everyone gets
an equal chance to develop their skills.

This free workshop will provide you as Coaches with
information on the programme and understanding of the
modified 5v5 Netball game. Plus key skills to deliver
quality coaching session with a focus on basic skill
development and skill correction. We require all Year
3&4 Coaches/Managers and interested parents to
attend.
