A large accounting firm was struggling with its IT environment and outsourced managed services company. The firm hired an advisory group to search for a better solution and more qualified provider. FHS successfully engaged the firm with a
comprehensive, “true engineering” strategy that incorporated a network refresh, full
support, on-site network manager and compliant backup and recovery.

The firm had reached a critical point of failure for their entire network. There were periods of
extended down time, intermittent application functionality and data security that was more
than not in compliance – it was ineffective. The firm had engaged an outsourced IT company to
manage the network, but the environment was not well designed and misconfigured. An executive advisory company was brought in to assess the organizational IT needs, issue an RFP for
services and recommend an IT solutions provider. Federal Hill Solutions responded to the RPF
and was selected to bid on the project.

personnel to understand the needs and issues for users. Our team then performed an extensive
assessment of the entire network infrastructure and firm’s technical personnel to determine
the best course of action to meet goals, budget and compliance issues. The FHS team presented a proposal that included a clear, cost effective and attainable gameplan to re-engineer the
entire environment implementing best practices and built upon a highly available platform. Our
plan included on-site network management, 24x7 help desk support and managed services and
the integration of a compliant EVault backup and recovery solution. Where others presented
help desk support, FHS was awarded the entire outsourced IT project based on our team’s ability to deliver a true engineering solution.

“This particular client was in pretty bad shape from an IT perspective. At their headquarters, the network was misconfigured, email was bogging down and the entire environment
was experiencing frequent, extended downtime. Unlike the other IT companies that presented basic managed services proposals, we went in with a true engineering solution to
solve their problems before managing performance. That’s what set us apart. Our first
course of action was to reengineer and stabilize the entire network on the existing IBM
hardware, reconfigure the Citrix environment and then upgrade their internet to a true
business grade, highly available pipe. Then we upgraded their SAN to properly handle the
environment and backed it up with an EVault backup and DR solution. After we reengineered the environment, we deployed a suite of 24x7 managed services from our NOC and
put a network manager on site 3x per week. The client absolutely loves us and they have
been a pleasure to work with.”
The FHS team continues to be trusted advisors for the client. Deploying and managing a
highly available network has eliminated downtime and increased productivity - a key for a
large firm that bills hourly. The network is outperforming the client’s expectations and the
end users are completely satisfied. The managing partner has even personally put our ability and solution to the test. After accidentally deleting a client file, the managing partner
was worried it was gone forever. The FHS network engineer on site was able to retrieve the
file immediately using the EVault dashboard manager, something the previous managed
services provider and network configuration would be unable to accomplish. As the existing hardware matures, ITSA will develop and execute a migration strategy to further reduce IT costs for the client.
