Important information for Turf Tyke Parents, Coaches, and Players
Age Group:
Players that are born between August 1, 2012 and July 31, 2013.
Purpose:
Our mission is to facilitate the development of a child's motor and social skills in a program
centered on having fun and building self-confidence through soccer activities.
What to expect:
Turf Tyke’s has grown over the past 7 years to more than 300 Tykes per season. The Turf Tyke
program provides a basic introduction to the fundamentals of soccer. The program is
designed to develop a child’s motor skills, while building self confidence in a fun and
entertaining environment. The Turf Tykes season consists of 6 games on Saturday mornings.
The games will be 4v4 in a free play environment. The continuous play model is so that
players can maximize playing time and get more touches on the ball, instead of standing
when the ball is out of play. They will play 5 minute quarters with 2 minutes between each
quarter. There will be a 5 minute half time. LYSA will provide end of season medals for all turf
tyke teams.
**LYSA offers two locations for your convenience, Moore Park and
Youngsville Sports Complex.

Friday, September 9th. Uniforms are to be purchased from Third Coast
Soccer located at 3501 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy. The home team
will wear the white jersey and the away team will wear the blue jersey.
The coaches’ Turf Tyke Demo Day will be Thursday, September 7th at both
Moore Park and Youngsville Sports Complex at 6pm, fields TBA.
