"Both Crow Ridge Road and Route 85A looked good after our investigation," VanKeuren said. The state's Department of Motor Vehicles reports accident statistics to the Department of Transportation every few years. VanKeuren said the last report was for the years 1994 to 1999, and there were four accidents at the intersection in that time. "It is not a high-accident area," he said. "Five thousand vehicles a day travel [Route 85A] in each direction; four accidents are not many at all.... The signage is good [near the intersection], and it's well-lit.
