Australia and New Zealand Air Law Moot Competition (ANZALM) - closing date 5 July
The Auckland Law School is proud to be sending a team to the fourth annual Australia and
New Zealand Air Law Moot Competition (ANZALM). The fourth ANZALM will be hosted at
the Faculty of Law, University of Adelaide, Adelaide between 30 September and 2 October
2017.
This year the moot is taking place immediately following the 68th International
Astronautical Congress will focus on the crossover between air and space law.
The moot problem this year will contain air and space law issues to magnify for the
competitors the similarities and differences in approaches and the law’s view of practical
problems that straddle the divide.
The ANZALM provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the field of aviation
and space law, develop and enhance research and advocacy skills, and establish contacts
with practitioners in Australia and New Zealand. The importance and breath of
Aviation law is significant as it traverses many core related LLB subject areas (e.g. Contract;
Torts, Public Law; Criminal Law) as well as International law.
The Law School invites applications to compete as part of a team representing the
University of Auckland at the competition. The University has been the overall winner of the
competition the last two years with the team going on to represent the University
internationally.
Students who have previously undertaken the Aviation Law or International Law courses
and/or having either participated in the Trial Advocacy course or have previous mooting or
competition experience are strongly encouraged to apply. These are not strict prerequisites
and anyone with an interest in aviation or space lawor improving their advocacy skills is
encouraged to apply.
In order to apply students need to email their completed application form combined with an
academic transcripts to the coaches as referred to in the application from. Include
"Air LawMoot" as well as your first and last names in the subject line.
Applications close Wednesday 5 July 2017 at 5 pm.
