May 21, 2009 QUICK QUOTES FROM: JIM SOBB JEFF COSTON MIKE SAN FILIPPO AN INTERVIEW WITH: JIM SOBB Q. Nervous or anxious on that first hole? JIM SOBB: No, not at all. Not at all. I hit the ball well, I hit it in the rough though, and every time I did it cost me a double and two bogeys and I shot 75. So if I could just hit it in the fairway, you know, it's -- I wasn't upset, I thought it was great. Q. You bogeyed the first hole and then parred the rest of the front nine? JIM SOBB: Yeah, I played the rest of the front and I drove it in the fairway bunker on 10, made bogey. And then I came back on 11. I drove it in the rough on 12, just a foot in the rough and it's just I make double. And I hit it in the rough again and couldn't get out of the rough. And made double there. And drove it in the rough on 14 and 15, make bogeys there. So that's it. I parred the last few holes, which are really pretty good solid pars. Hit the green in regulation on the last few holes, so that was good. Q. The afternoon players are talking about fast greens. Did that affect you at all? JIM SOBB: They were fast, but they were really crusty. You know, the ball was sliding all over the place. But I didn't 3-putt at all. I didn't 3-putt a green, so I was happy with that. And I kept it underneath the hole for the most part so, that was good too. FastScripts by ASAP Sports. AN INTERVIEW WITH: JEFF COSTON Q. It looked like this afternoon scoring was really tough. There were only maybe one or two people under par all afternoon. JEFF COSTON: All right. Well, hey, is that supposed to make me feel better? You know, like the weather was great, the golf course was great, it's just, you know, it's a national, a Major Championship, and so difficult conditions. You definitely have to hit it in the fairway, you definitely have to have great speed on the greens, because you got some downhills that are really fast and uphills aren't as fast. So you got to be thinking properly out there and sort of trusting your game. So it's a difficult scoring golf course, at least it was for me today. Q. You put together back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15. Did that kind of, is that something positive to build on for tomorrow? JEFF COSTON: Thanks, I'll take that. I need to. You know, yeah I felt like I did some good things, especially the last 10, 12 holes, so I look forward to my opportunity tomorrow and appreciate the PGA of America having this tournament and I appreciate being invited. Q. You were the low club pro I believe a couple years ago? JEFF COSTON: I was. I was. I think I 81917301 visit our archives at asapsports.com 1 can build on that. Q. But you're going off in the morning, this morning scores were a little lower. Are you going to go to bed tonight with a number in your head? JEFF COSTON: No, I was just going to quit after nine maybe and get a really low number in my head, you know. It's always nice in the morning normally, right? I have no excuses, I could have done a better job, but I look forward to an opportunity tomorrow. I remember the PGA Championship at Whistling Straights in 2004 I think I had the low round of the second round, the low round of the day, so I figure that might happen again. FastScripts by ASAP Sports one in New York and I made one in Kansas City. But I wasn't in the hole-in-one pool. So that's the story. Q. Does this course look like it's a potential for another hole-in-one for you? MIKE SAN FILIPPO: Well, gosh, I don't know, I'm just happy to make 3s on the par-3s. The par-3's are really good. I came close on 17 today, I hit a really good shot in there with a 3-iron. You know, hole-in-ones are, they happen, they're lucky. Q. You've had a number of them. MIKE SAN FILIPPO: Yeah, yeah, actually I have been lucky. FastScripts by ASAP Sports AN INTERVIEW WITH: MIKE SAN FILIPPO Q. How did the game go today? 3-over but you had some birdies. MIKE SAN FILIPPO: Actually, I was four, unfortunately, but it went okay. I hit the ball really well, I did not negotiate the greens very well today. Could have been a really good round. Had it to 1-over and finished with three bogeys, which kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. But all in all I'm pleased, I'm encouraged, I'm hitting it good, now I just got to figure a way to get it in the hole. Q. You got a busy seven or eight years senior, senior circuit. MIKE SAN FILIPPO: Yeah, I've had sort of a second career sort of transitioned into playing the TOUR and it's been a lot of fun. It's been a nice change of life-style for me, I do miss being a club pro, I imagine I'll probably go back some day to being a club pro. Especially if I keep putting the way I'm putting. But in the meantime, I'm having a great time, playing with these guys, and you know, as long as my wife's okay with it, I'm going to hang in there. Q. Have you gotten any of those holes-in-one on while you were on the Senior Tour? MIKE SAN FILIPPO: Well, yeah, well, actually, I did make a couple out there.
