Student Learning Outcomes (SLO): The main objective of this course is to increase your understanding of key management issues. In particular, by the end of the class students should understand 1. Students will learn what is meant by management and managerial effectiveness 2. Students will learn what managerial activities that contribute to managerial effectiveness 3. Students will learn the managerial function of planning and why planning is critical for effective leadership 5. Students will learn the rational and non-rational decision making models including decision-making biases and how group and individual decision making differ. 6. Students will learn how to use power and influence tactics successfully 7. Students will learn the principles and tactics of effective negotiations 8. Students will learn group dynamics and how to design effective teams 9. Students will learn why organizational culture is important and how to create a positive culture that enhances employee engagement 10.
