Course Structure and Conduct
Course Expectations and Grading Policy:
EXPECTATIONS:
1. Check your email and Blackboard frequently, at least three times a week. Important information in regards
to your student teaching assignment, your credential, and your work in general will be communicated via
email. You are expected to check your email on a regular basis and you will be held responsible for
information communicated via email. I too will check my email frequently. Seminar, office hours, and email
are the best line of communication. I encourage the buddy system where two or more of you exchange
phone numbers and can alert each other and check in with each other about assignments, due dates, etc.
2. You are expected to read the information on Blackboard and you are responsible for it.
3. Back up/SAVE your assignments. It is a safe policy to make a copy of every assignment you turn in to any
instructor. We encourage this practice, including scanning all hand-made work and storing all electronic work
on an external backup system. Also, save your TB test results, CPR certificate, RICA score, and edTPA score.
4. No late assignments will be accepted, unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor and it
is due to extenuating circumstances. Homework should be completed prior to the start of class, 3:45, not
during class. No incomplete assignments are accepted.
5. You must maintain a B average and earn at least a C in all your courses. You must also pass TE 960 Basic Student
Teaching Seminar and TE 965 Basic Student Teaching for the team leader to recommend you for a credential.
GRADING POLICY: 100 possible points on the following 5 criteria
100-75 points= Credit earned

SDSU Policies and Guidelines:
Statement on Cheating and Plagiarism: Cheating is the actual or attempted practice of fraudulent or deceptive acts for
the purpose of improving one’s grade or obtaining course credit; such acts also include assisting another student to do so.
Typically, such acts occur in relation to examinations. However, it is the intent of this definition that the term ‘cheating’ not
be limited to examination situations only, but that it include any and all actions by a student that are intended to gain an
unearned academic advantage by fraudulent or deceptive means. Plagiarism is a specific form of cheating which consists
of the misuse of the published and/or unpublished works of others by misrepresenting the material (i.e., their intellectual
property) so used as one’s own work. Penalties for cheating and plagiarism range from a 0 or F on a particular assignment,
through an F for the course, to expulsion from the University. For more information on the University’s policy regarding
cheating and plagiarism, refer to the Schedule of Courses (‘Legal Notices on Cheating and Plagiarism’) or the University
Catalog (‘Policies and Regulations’).”
Students with Disabilities: “Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accommodation: The University is committed to
providing reasonable academic accommodations to students with disabilities. The Student Disability Services Office
provides university academic support services and specialized assistance to students with disabilities. Individuals with
physical, perceptual, or learning disabilities as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act should contact Student
Disability Services for information regarding accommodations. Please notify your instructor so that reasonable efforts can
be made to accommodate you. If you expect accommodation through the Act, contact the Student Disability Services Office
at (619) 594-6473 or http://newscenter.sdsu.edu/student_affairs/sds/. In addition, if you need accommodations for a
disability, please contact me immediately ( no later than Friday, September 9, 2016) and to discuss specific
accommodations for which you have received authorization.
University Policy on Absence for Religious Observances includes the following statements: “By the end of the second
week of classes, (For fall 2016, it is 9/9/16.) students should notify the instructors of affected courses of planned absences
for religious observances. Instructors shall reasonably accommodate students who notify them in advance of planned
absences for religious observances.”
Safety: Please be sure to observe all laws and make safe choices when driving or walking around any elementary school.
PLEASE USE THE CROSSWALK. Model safety for the children.
