U/15 Junior Rugby League Teams
Dear Coach/Manager,
The Bowen Junior Seagulls Rugby League Club is inviting all Under 15 teams to compete in
the Michael McLean U/15 Challenge to be held at the home of Rugby League in Bowen,
Denison Park.
Michael McLean first started playing junior rugby league in the Under 10s in Bowen. While
playing representative rugby league with Whitsunday in his late teens, Michael was asked to
play for Easts in the Brisbane competition. After two years in this competition, Michael then
moved to Sydney to play for Eastern Suburbs Roosters from 1985 to 1990. In 1991, he
played for the Newcastle Knights and in 1992 he moved back to Queensland to play for the
Gold Coast Seagulls. Over the course of these two years, Michael played five games in the
State of Origin competition.
The carnival will be held on the weekend of 6th and 7th of April 2013. This carnival would
provide the perfect opportunity to plan a pre season trip away for your team, parents and
supporters.
The competition is open to all Registered Junior Rugby League Players in the Under 14 and
Under 15 age groups. All players must be registered with the QRL.
Teams from inter-state may nominate, providing they are affiliated and registered with their
state league, and necessary permission is granted from their governing body to travel
outside the state.
Venue:
Denison Park, Queens Road, Bowen
Number of Players: Maximum of 20 players per team.
Rules: Revised rules for the Michael McLean Challenge will be forwarded with the draw.
With this information, game format will also be provided.

Attached to this invitation is a Nomination Form. Nomination Forms along with the fee must
be returned by Thursday 28th February, 2013. Nomination forms and fees can be posted to:

Nomination Fee: The nomination fee will be $100 per team.
Carnival Shirts
A carnival shirt will be provided to all carnival players. Further information regarding shirts
will be sent out after nominations are received.
