ON SPACE RESEARCH AND SPACE TRANSPORTATION
for interested teachers

19th, 20th and 21st July 2010,
Bremen, Germany
in parallel with the
38th COSPAR SCIENTIFIC ASSEMBLY IN BREMEN
REVA Seminar organised by the CVA, lSSAT and the Senate Chancellery of Bremen
in cooperation with
ZARM - Centre of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity, DLR Bremen,
EADS Astrium Bremen, the University of Bremen, CNES
REVA (Educational Network of Ariane Cities), programme set up by the CVA
(Community of Ariane Cities) with the support of the ISSAT Association (Institute for
Space, its Applications and Technologies), aims to encourage educational
exchanges relating to Space activities within the CVA network. In this context CVA
organises annual seminars to give middle and high school teachers in member and
non member cities of the CVA the opportunity of attending training in space related
topics and to extend this possibility to scientific coaches of the appropriate level of
ability.
In 2010 the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen will host the 38 th COSPAR Scientific
Assembly which is the largest scientific convention on space research. During the
assembly representatives from science, government, industry and academia will
meet. More than 2.500 international visitors will share the latest discoveries and
developments in space research and technology. A certain commercial exhibition will
give companies and organisations of the aerospace sector the possibility to represent
themselves.
The third international REVA seminar on space research and space transportation
will be held in the frame of the COPSAR conference on 19th, 20th and 21st July 2009
in the CVA member city Bremen, Germany.

The focal point of this third session will be the public understanding of science and
aerospace in general. It is important to induce awareness of the usefulness of Space
towards citizens. The programme would thus address, among other aspects like
weightlessness and robotics, the impact of space on our day-to-day life ("A day
without satellites – chaos"). Furthermore, to encourage exchanges between teachers
concerning the transport of space related knowledge, a round table on methods and
tools will be included.
The CVA offers to REVA seminar participants:
- a three-day training course on space related topics in German or English
(maximum 30 attendees) with simultaneous translation in French, English or
German,
- the possibility to participate at scientific sessions und interdisciplinary lectures
of the 38th COSPAR Scientific Assembly in Bremen,
- social programme,
- transport at the arrival and departure from and to Bremen Airport and Bremen
main station,
- accommodation (3 nights including breakfast, from 18th to 21st July 2010) at
the Hotel “prizeotel Bremen”, close to the Congress Centre Bremen where the
COSPAR Conference takes place,
- local transport from hotel to the different places where the conferences and
workshops are held
- lunches and coffee breaks, tasting and cocktail during social events.
It should be mentioned that participating in this seminar entitles the status of an
alumnus of the CVA which allows to participate in a trip organized by the CVA in
Guyana to a special rate.
