London is the capital city of England and of the United Kingdom. With
an estimated 8,308,369 residents in 2012, London is the most populous
region, urban zone and metropolitan area in the United Kingdom and is
the largest city in the European Union. Standing on the River Thames,
London has been a major settlement for two millennia, its history going
back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londiniumук
The Tower of London - fortress one of the main symbols of the
United Kingdom, occupies a
special place in the history of
the English nation.
Tower, Fortress, standing on the
north bank of the Thames - the
historical center of London and
one of the oldest buildings in
England. In the words of the

on the 900th anniversary of the
Tower, "in its history, the Tower
of London was a fortress,
palace, royal jewelry store, an

jewelry dates back to the period

that could have used at the coronation of Henry IV in 1399 Edward's

coronation of Charles II. Crown of Queen Victoria ( 1838 ) adorned

Tower Bridge was built in 1894 in the Gothic style, according to the style
of the Tower of London. Two massive movable platforms, each of which

boats. The original hydraulic system of the bridge is exhibited in the
museum on the south side. The bridge opened to the public, and

of the victory won by the British fleet under Admiral Nelson in
1805 off Cape Trafalgar between the Anglo-French war.
Nelson was killed in the battle. In 1842, erected a granite
