Pass the Pulse- Ask students to form a close circle and hold hands. Explain
to students that they will ‘pass the pulse’ by squeezing the hand of the
person next to them. The goal is to pass the pulse all the way around the
circle. You can also time the game to make it more of a challenge.
Time estimates- Students should form pairs, each pair receives a
stopwatch. Each pair estimates how long it will take themselves (or their
partner to complete an activity). They should record the estimate then
actually do the activity and compare the real time with their estimate. If stop
watches are limited you can do this as a group activity with one volunteer to
complete the activity.
Bridge- Four students should stand facing each other
holding one end of a length of rope (they are the
‘towers’ of the bridge), four students should kneel and
hold on to each rope in between the two students (they
are the ‘suspenders’), and two students per rope can sit
and hold onto the ends of the rope, remaining students
can be cars. Discuss the importance of each role and
the way it feels to be different parts of the bridge.
OOBLECKSupplies:
 1 cup water
 1.5-2 cups corn starch
 food coloring
1. Begin with water in a bowl and start slowly adding corn starch into it,
using a spoon or your hands (hands will work better as you add more
corn starch). You may need more corn starch- the consistency should
be a liquid yet solid. Add food coloring if desired, it will be a fun
challenge to mix!
Name Game- Sit in a circle. One person begins by saying their name and
an adjective that starts with the same letter (you can also do a food), the
next person must say the name and adjective of the person before them and
share their own. It gets progressively harder as you move around the circle
as the list of names grows and grows, and the very last person must try to
say everyone’s name and adjective.
Molecular TagMake your own molecule- Students use toothpicks and mini
marshmallows to create their very own molecule.
Silent Ball- To begin, leader starts by counting down and then passing the
ball to another person in the play area. A person must sit down if they: drop
the ball, make a bad pass, or talk/make a noise. The game continues until
only one person remains.
Telephone- Everyone sits in a line, and the first person whispers something
in the ear of the student next to them. The message continues down the line
until the very last player announces the message that they heard to the
entire group.
Can & String experiment- Poke a hole in the bottom of two plastic cups
and tie a paper clip to one end of a piece of string. Thread one end of this
string through the hole from the inside of the cup so that the paper clip will
keep it from pulling through. Thread the other end of the string through the
other cup and tie a paper clip to this end on the inside of the cup. Have one
student place one cup to their ear while the other student talks into the
other cup (string should be pulled tight).
Red Light Green Light- One person is the stoplight and all other students
stand in a line about 15 feet away. When the stoplight calls GREEN, all
students can run. When RED is called everyone should stop. Any students
caught running on red are out. Goal is to make it to the stoplight.
Ice cream in a bagIngredients:
 ½ cup half and half
 1 tablespoon sugar
 ¼ teaspoon vanilla
 3 cups ice
 1/3 cup rock salt
 1 sandwich Ziploc
 1 gallon Ziploc
1. Put half and half, sugar, and vanilla in the smaller Ziploc and seal
tightly.
2. Put ice and rock salt in the larger bag and add in the sealed small bag,
seal large bag tightly.
3. Squeeze bag until ice cream thickens, about 10-15 minutes. You can
add in other candies or crushed cookies if desired.
(Makes 1 serving)
