Quiet Hours have been established upon student request, and have an emphasis on
creating a study environment. The Quiet Hours are responsive to individuals
willing to show extra courtesy and respect for an atmosphere conducive to sleep and
study.
Quiet Hours Policy ??????? Quiet hours exist from 11:00pm - 10:00am Sunday
through Friday and 2am-10am on Friday and Saturday. ? Any noise (i.e. stereos,
TVs, verbal exchanges, etc.) must be kept at a level that cannot be heard by
neighboring residents. Noise that is prolonged (thirty seconds or more) and/or
blatant (noise that enters another student’s room), is in violation of this policy. At
the beginning of each semester, Resident Assistants (RAs will meet with floor
residents to demonstrate how the Quiet Hours Policy will be interpreted).
Enforcement of the Quiet Lifestyle Policy Residents will share responsibility with
the Residential Programs staff for enforcing this policy. Violations of this policy will
be handled in the following manner: 1. The first violation of the policy will result
in a Disciplinary Conference with the Residence Hall
Director (RHD),
which will require the resident to meet with his/her RA to discuss the policy and
participate in an educational sanction. 2. The second violation of the policy will
result in Disciplinary Conference with the Residence Hall
Director
(RHD), which will require the resident to meet with his/her RA to discuss the policy
and a written letter of warning. 3. The third violation of the policy will result in
Disciplinary Conference with the Residence Hall
Director (RHD), which
will require the resident to meet with his/her RA to discuss the policy and a 2nd
written letter of warning. 4. The forth violation within one academic year will
result in a third letter of warning and possible removal from the floor/hall to other
on-campus accommodations. A conference will be held with the RHD and a written
notice will be given indicating where the resident will be relocated and when
(usually within 48 hours of the violation). 5. At the beginning of the academic
year, each floor may elect to increase the quiet hours by a 100% vote of floor
residents. However, the floor may NOT decrease the quiet hours.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????? I have read the above
policy statement and understand that four violations of the policy within one
academic year will possibly result in my loss of housing.
