NCAA ELIGIBILITY • Become familiar with CORE and CUM GPA • Understand the Sliding Scale as it relates to CORE GPA and Test Score • Know what the 48H form is and how to access it from anywhere • Know how to Register with the NCAA for any potential athlete What does an Athlete need to qualify for the NCAA? • There are two major things needed to qualify to play sports for an NCAA institution 1. CORE GPA 2. Highest ACT/SAT possible ** There is a “sliding scale” provided by the NCAA which combines the two to determine actual eligibility ** What is CORE GPA and Why is it Important? • Core GPA refers to the grades averaged out in the core classes a student takes in high school – This includes classes in Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Foreign Language – There may be other classes included but that is up to each individual school and the NCAA to decide – The CORE GPA is what matters when qualifying for eligibility to the NCAA…….sorry….weights, art, photography do not mean much to this! – Cumulative GPA is everything averaged out over all the semesters in high school....KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!!!
