Spring SEMINAR, which will be held at the Hilton Birmingham Perimeter Park. The location had to be changed due to
renovations at the Marriott 280. We are pleased to announce that we will have two speakers at this seminar; Ben
Tallman, USTCP, EA, BBA and Dr. Roger Roemmich. BIO’s for Ben Tallman and Roger Roemmich are included at the end
of this announcement along with a brief description of the topics that will be presented. Our Two-Day Spring Seminar is
a great opportunity for you to earn 16 Hours of CPE credits while enjoying a well-deserved break from the office, as well
as being able to spend time with others in our profession as we study some thought provoking tax related topics.
HOTEL REGISTRATION
You must register at the Hilton by May 9th, in order to take advantage of the “group” rate of $129 plus tax. You must tell
the hotel representative that you want to register for the Alabama Society of Enrolled Agents Seminar. If you think you
want to attend, call and register at the hotel and then cancel at least 24 hours in advance, you will not be charged for the

SEMINAR NEWS
The Board Meeting will be held Sunday, May 21 at 6:00 pm. Board Members can request the meeting room information
when you register at the hotel. Registration for the seminar will begin Monday morning at 7:15 am with the morning
session beginning PROMPTLY at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday’s session will also begin at 8:00 am.
CPE CREDITS
In order to receive CPE hours for attendance, you must be in the classroom at all times except for a designated break or for a “functional break”. Please
be aware that your CPE Certificate will reflect you arriving later than the designated time, leaving the session for an extended period of time.
We look forward to having you join us for a few days of relaxation, camaraderie, food and continuing education at a great rate. All

BEN TALLMAN, USTCP, EA, BBA
Ben Tallman is an Alumnus of the University of West Georgia, he is an NTPI
Fellow, and currently has a tax practice in Atlanta. He has taught as an
instructor for many local, state, and national organizations over the past
decade. Ben has served on the NAEA National Board as Chairman of the
Education Foundation; he is a prior member of the IRS Regional Liaison
Committee, and a prior Education Director for two GA Affiliate Tax
Organizations. He has appeared as a panelist on Tax Talk Today, as well as,
conducting an NAEA 3-Part Webinar in discussions on the Affordable Care
Act. He is a US Tax Court Practitioner and writes extensively for national tax publications and tax
journals. Ben has served as a volunteer for an Atlanta night shelter and food bank; he has served as
a board member on his local Jaycee Chapter, church school board, and two state tax organizations.
He recently celebrated 40 years in tax preparation.

and address suggested answers to the questions to avoid future problems with the Service.
TRUMP TAX REFORM – 2 HOURS

Discussion will address the tax proposals offered by President Trump and Speaker Ryan. We will
discuss the differences and how they will affect our business going forward.
2017 TAX EXTENDERS AND UPDATES – 2 HOURS

This session will open up the recent changes and look back at the Extenders as we move into Tax Year
2017 IRS Updates and new tax forms will also be reviewed.
PANDORA’S BOX – ETHICS – 2 HOURS

We will have an Ethical discussion on all the things to avoid in your practice. Discussion is inter-active
and should lead to a good group discussion at the end. Case Studies will encourage Group
Participation.
DR. ROGER ROEMMICH
Dr. Roger Roemmich is a former professor of accounting and a licensed
financial advisor. He is the founder and CEO of the Retirement Cash Flow
Education Group. He established RCF in 2013 to get the word out on the
importance of retirement cash flow planning and management for those who
are still working, and for those who are already retired. Roger speaks on the
national lecture circuit, appears on television and radio, and is the author of
the acclaimed “Don’t Eat Dog Food When You’re Old!”
Dr. Roger Roemmich, founder of Retirement Cash Flow Education Group is a certified public
accountant, a certified financial planner with FINRA Series 7, 31, and 65 designations, and a certified
long-term care professional. He is also licensed to sell a variety of insurance and annuity products.
Roger began his career in finance more than 40 years ago, earning his doctorate in accounting from
Michigan State University and going on to thrive in a variety of positions within academia and in
the corporate sector. On the academic front, Roger served as a tenured professor on the faculty in
the School of Accounting at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, where he imparted the
knowledge his students needed to perform at their best in the world of numbers, specifically as
CPAs. He held the position for 10 y ears.
In 1984, the University of Georgia chose Roger as the financial advisor charged with the
responsibility to assist employees of the university with exit planning in preparation for retirement.
He conducted these seminars until 2008. In addition, Roger’s strong commitment to education
continued as he conducted CPE though Federal Tax Workshops in 20 states, and provided CPE for
the Georgia Society of CPAs. The Retirement Cash Flow Education Group presently offers CPE,
seminars, and webinars for financial professionals and individual investors on issues ranging from
wealth management, retirement planning, tax laws and tax liability reduction, Social Security,
Medicare, and reverse mortgages.

identify how itemized deductions differ for taxpayers over 65 versus younger taxpayers.
SOCIAL SECURITY TAX BASICS – 2 HOURS

November 2015 will be clarified and illuminated.

Common errors planning for taxpayers over age 65 will be identified and clarified.
LONG TERM-CARE TAXATION – 2 HOURS

misconceptions will be identified.
