Dear Students and Families, Hello! My name is Hallie Brown and I am honored to be your child’s teacher this year! This marks my eighth year teaching at EDUPRIZE where I consider myself very fortunate to belong to a community dedicated to excellence. I earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and hold an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. During my teaching career, I also taught both kindergarten and preschool. At home, I currently have a lot of “juniors” hanging around! My husband, Troy, is a junior high teacher on our campus. Our daughter Emily, is a junior at NAU and our son, Jamison will begin his junior year in high school. We’ve lived in Gilbert for twenty years, and I couldn’t think of any place I’d rather call home. I love teaching second graders and see each day as an opportunity to grow! My goal is to nurture and motivate each child by providing many opportunities for positive learning experiences. One way we will do this is through our thematic studies called “cottages”. We have four wonderful ones to discover each quarter, beginning with Bug Farm, Weather Station, American Boutique and Dinosaur Dig! We are assigned to Village 1 and are on the “traditional day” schedule. School starts at 7:50 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m. On Fridays we have early release at 11:20 a.m. The first fantastic day of school is Wednesday, July 26th! All students must be on time and be present for the entire first day to be considered enrolled at EDUPRIZE. From the very first day of school, I will meet students outside at our designated spot. You will get information at Open House about where to line up. Mark your calendars because Open House is on Monday, July 24th between 9:30-10:15 a.m. This special time has been designated for us to ease heavy traffic flow, therefore please let me know if it is necessary for you to come at a different time between 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. At Open House, you will have an opportunity to meet me, see our classroom, bring in school supplies, and drop off important papers. Please check the school website and while online, complete and print the Open House Forms, which include Emergency Documents, and bring them with you! On the next page there is a supply list of items you can bring to Open House. Additionally, please come prepared to pay for your child’s $6 Scholastic Reader Magazine Subscription with cash or check payable to EDUPRIZE. I can’t wait to meet you all in Building 1-room 36! In the meantime be sure to frequently check the school website at eduprizeschools.net for any updates or schedule changes. Love and Hugs, Mrs. Brown [email protected] Mrs. Brown’s Class Supply List The following are supplies that will be used throughout the year. In some instances, I’ve asked for specific name-brands. This is just because I’ve found that they work better than other types. Since many of these materials are shared in the classroom, please label only your child’s pencil box and scissors. It would be helpful if you could place the following items in your child’s pencil box and remove them from the box or wrapping: 1 package of crayons, scissors, and 2 sharpened pencils.
