Executive Director
April 27, 2017
Dear All-Star:
You have been selected as a member of the 2017 Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star
Baseball Team. The 39th Annual FACA All-Star Game will be played on May 29th and 30th (each
team plays two games) at Lakeland’s Joker Marchant Stadium at Tigertown. Game times are
th
th
11:00 AM and 3:30 AM on Monday, May 29 and 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM on Tuesday, May 30 .
You are to report to the Recreation Hall at Tigertown (2301 Lakeland Hills Blvd) in Lakeland on
th
Sunday, May 28 at 11:30 am. After check in, you will be given a ticket to the minor league
game that starts at 1pm. Please be on time. Food and lodging for your stay will be paid for by
the Detroit Tigers, the host of the 2017 FACA All-Star Baseball Classic. You must take care of
your travel expenses to and from Lakeland. The FACA will purchase medical insurance for each
athlete. This is a secondary coverage.
All-Stars are to wear their high school uniforms and FACA caps in the All-Star Games (see your
high school coach and make arrangements with him to secure a uniform...both tops). You are
also asked to bring your catching equipment (if you are a catcher) your baseball cleats, bats
(wood) and practice gear. Sunday afternoon’s practice will be in front of college and pro scouts.
You should also bring appropriate clothing for the Monday night banquet (slacks/polo). If your
high school coach, parents or other guests wish to attend, please complete the enclosed
banquet form or call the FACA Office at (850)727-8117. Banquet tickets are $10.00 each.
This will be the 39th time the game has been played before the pro draft. Because of this, we
expect a large turnout of pro scouts (over 70 in 2016), front office people and college coaches
to watch Florida's top high school baseball players perform. Over 30 players from last year
were drafted in the MLB draft.
Enclosed you will find a Parent Consent Form, Acceptance Form and Player Information Form.
The Player Information Form (can be submitted electronically via the “FORMS” tab on our
website) should be typed or printed and will be placed in the Scout Packet for MLB/College
scouts which you should complete and mail/fax/electronic submit immediately to the FACA
Office in Tallahassee. Your coach may have already sent this form in, check with him. All forms
must be returned to this office immediately. If your parents or coach need a room (their
expense), see the list of participating hotels on the bottom of the banquet form. Be sure you
tell them you are with the FACA All-Star Baseball Games.
Congratulations on your selection to the 39th Annual FACA All-Star Baseball Team! See you in
Lakeland on May 28th!
Sincerely,
Shelton Crews
