
The owner obtained ionizing radiation sources subject to
registration within 10 days upon receiving them shall
submit necessary reference notes to the regulatory
authority of the nuclear energy field for registration.
The regulatory authority based on the submitted
reference notes within 5 days period registers the
ionizing radiation source in the register of ionizing
radiation sources. Copies of reference notes relevantly
validated and sealed are returned to the licensee within 3
days period.

“Radiation Safety Norms”
•Decree № 1489 as of 18 August 2006 on approval of
“Radiation Safety Rules”
Regulatory function of ANRA
Notification and National Register of Radiation Source
According to the final information in Armenia there are
1464 ionizing radiation sources. Most of the ionizing
radiation sources are used in medical purposes.
Radiation sources including
1191 x-ray sources
276 sealed sources
7 unsealed sources
There are 132 radioisotope equipments.

Regulatory function of ANRA
Notification and National Register of Radiation Sources:
From November 2001 till September 2003 the ANRA conducted
the ”inventory” of radiation sources and practices with them. The
objective of the inventory was:
to correct the data on the amount of radiation sources in the
country in order to review national regulatory infrastructure,
to optimize decisions concerning priorities for supervision of
radiation sources,
to optimize the security measures for radiation sources,
to develop national strategies for improving control over
radiation sources,
to develop system of emergency planning and response.
Based on these results, the inventory of radiation sources has
been established and a new registry/database RASOD
(Radioactive sources database) exploiting the NRC USA
strategy, was elaborated.
Initiation of Sources Program In

ARIS
What is ARIS?
ARIS – Advanced Regulatory Information System
ARIS was developed by Nuclear and Radiation Safety
Center (TSO of ANRA) in cooperation with Adstm Inc.,
USA under U.S. NRC/ANRA Cooperation Agreement.
ARIS promotes a consistent and common approach to the
regulatory control of radiation sources and nuclear
materials while offering the flexibility to respond to the
specific needs of a Regulatory Body, with respect to their
national legislative frameworks, administrative structures
and institutional and regulatory frameworks.
