Project Highlights:
Based on an idea from a fan focus group, the South End Zone Club space was
designed to give patrons field access during a game or event. Gillette Stadium
created a space that is 20,000 square feet of tables, concessions, bar areas and
high and small seating areas, plus direct access to the south end zone of Gillette
Stadium by way of 200’ square feet of glass doors. Once outdoors, there is 10’
feet of Dal Tile that transitions to the turf field. Milliken carpet tile is installed
at seating areas, and a Mats Inc custom logo walk-off matting installed inside
the lobby and elevator. Since all private memberships were sold, success was
achieved and the project was completed before the first home game, as well as,
under budget.
The budget, a 30-day aggressive time schedule and radius curves of the south
end zone, made this project unique. The challenge was laying out different
flooring types in a radius structure, to ensure that they appear aligned. The only
straight wall in the space was a metal deck stairway. The construction managers
worked closely with the design and Ruggieri teams to find ways to get the
project within budget without taking away from the overall high-end aesthetic
of the space. To avoid the hot and humid weather of July, we adjusted our work
schedule and worked at night under the stadium lights to get the project done
quicker. All work was completed on time and within the budget.
