Includes All Track Workers (Non Rookie and Rookie Teams) Track Worker privileges may be revoked The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 5 Entering the Track ● Upon Entrance: ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ● Fire Extinguishers ○ ○ ● Teams must have a minimum of three members to practice/qualify/race All outstanding fines must be paid All Equipment Must be Stickered (Fire Extinguisher, Air Tanks, Starter, etc.) Karts will Be Inspected GATES WILL CLOSE AT TIMES LISTED (NO ADMITTANCE PAST TIME) Can be resealed at the Gate for a $5 Charge if absolutely necessary Or Rented from the Foundation for $25/session in extreme circumstances Badges ○ Every Crew Member must have badge present to enter/leave track. The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 6 Pit Road Team Safety ● General Safety ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ● Absolutely No Speeding ○ ● ● ● ● Absolutely No Phones or Electronic Devices. Proper Attire: Closed Toed Shoes, Pants (no Holes), Shirts must cover shoulders Safety Glasses/Sun Glasses must be Worn at All Times. No Food/Drinks: Only Spill Proof Bottles Teams will be Disqualified from Practice and next running day if above guidelines are not followed. Teams will be Black flagged in violation, no questions asked All Refueling must take place outside the gate Place Spare Number Panel on Fence Grand Prix Foundation Members will be in Pits to Answer Questions Be Aware of Surroundings! The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 7 Parking Procedure ● ● ● ● ● Enter the facility through the gravel access road Park in the batch plant lot to the south of the Track One vehicle per team Must display parking pass prominently on dash May drop Kart off at the front Gate The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 8 Driver Eligibility ● ● Drivers must participate in a minimum of four practices in order to be eligible to qualify/compete (both Main and Relief) Switching Drivers ○ ○ ● Crew Chiefs must notify the Scoring Table when switching drivers Relief Drivers must have a large, visible “X” taped on their helmet Only one driver may qualify for each team ○ If the qualifying driver is unable to compete on Race Day, a written request for driver change must be submitted to the Race Directors The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 9 Qualifications Procedures ● ● Saturday, April 15 Heats- Four karts, 7 minutes, best single lap counts as Qualification Time ○ ○ ● Karts that have completed a “qualification attempt” will advance to race day ○ ● ● Heat positions will be selected by random draw on Saturday, April 8 Teams not present for the drawing will be placed at the beginning of the order An attempt is defined as an intact kart with driver lining up at the start line for its designated qualification heat and attempting to start the engine. - Article II, Section IV, Rule 8. Karts that finish their qualifications heat with a time in the top five will be impounded either until quals. conclude or they are deposed No kart may leave the pits from close of gates to conclusion of quals ○ Team members may leave as long as at least one team member stays with the kart at all times The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 10 Race Day Agenda ● Six Races ○ ○ ○ ○ ● Top 27 are seeded into the Main Event, remaining are placed in Sprint Races ○ ● 3 Sprint Races - 25 laps 1 Classic Alumni Race - Pre-’82 karts 1 Modern Alumni Race - Post-’82 karts Main Event - 60th Running of the Purdue Grand Prix Top two finishers from each sprint race fill the remaining six spots in the Main Event Main Event ○ 33 karts, rolling start, 160 laps The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 11 Fines ● Fines will be Assessed for the following: ○ ○ ○ ○ ● Badge Picture is not Taken by 2/17 Team Representative not at All-Teams Meeting (3/7) OR Safety Meeting (3/29) Transponder Number not Provided to Scoring Director by 3/22 Track Worker not in attendance at Track Worker Training All Outstanding Fines must be paid in order to enter the Pits on Practice/Qualifications/Race days The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 12 Race Rules Please Visit www.purduegrandprix.org if you are unsure of rules, procedures, etc. The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation 13 Seminar Series ● ● Look for an email in the next couple of days with info regarding the last session and the coming second session Second and final seminar will be held Thurs.
