TSD Playing Time Guidelines
InRangerAthletics,sportsaredividedintothreeseparatecategoriesaccordingtotheirnature.
Thosecategoriesarelistedbelow:
Developmental
3rd/4thgradesportsaredevelopmental.Coachesalloweachathleteanopportunitytoplayin
everygameasyoungathletesneedtheopportunitytodevelop.
5th/6thand7th/8thgradesportsaredevelopmental.Coachesalloweachathleteanopportunityto
playineverygameasyoungathletesneedtheopportunitytodevelop.
Foranytournaments,coachesdonotsetatimelimitontheamountofplayingtimeanathlete
willreceive.
Competitive/Developmental
JuniorVarsitylevelsportsarecompetitiveanddevelopmental.Coachesdotheirbesttomake
sureeachathletereceivessomeplayingtime;however,theamountoftimeiscompletelyattheir
discretionand/orthosewhomeetorexceedcoach’sexpectations(commitment,dedication,
loyalty,sportsmanship,etc.).
Competitive
Varsitylevelsportsarecompetitive.Teamshavetheopportunitytowindistrict,area,regional,
state,and/ornationaltitle.Playingtimeisawardedtostudentswithahigherskillleveland/or
thosewhomeetorexceedcoach’sexpectations(commitment,dedication,loyalty,
sportsmanship,etc.).Therearetimeswhenathletesmaynotgetplayingtime.
