Internship in Optometry What: This is an enriching experience for undergraduate students, giving them a clinical and hands on experience in the field of Optometry. Students will have the opportunity to participate in research, see participants, shadow optometrists, engage in new studies, and possibly present their research at the end of their second semester. Students will work under a health professional at HPD and first observe their work along with the work of the interns before them to get familiar with the position. They will typically see participants for research about 2-3 times a week, and work on their term paper outside of that. Where: The internship requires students to go to the Health Professions Building (HPD), otherwise known as the graduate building of Nova Southeastern. Interns will see participants in the lab on the second floor of the Terry building. Application Details: Students will need to be in good academic standing before applying for the position, and have to be comfortable taking on the internship along with the rest of their credits for the semester. They will also need to go through an interview process with not only Dr. Jaffe, but also the health professional they will be working closely with at HPD. Further details will be discussed by Dr. Jaffe on what he fully expects from students before applying. I highly recommend this research/internship to anyone interested in optometry. You will get an unbelievable hands-on opportunity in the field and learn so much about your future career through this experience.
