SCA ROUND ONE WAKEFIELD PARK
What a great launch to our new series. All the competitors where more than happy with the format & racing.
The downside of the meeting was that we ended up with a wet meeting with the first race starting in the dry but
the rain started half way through the ten laps.
The second race saw the heavens opened up & made for a very difficult track to race on.
The Sunday fifteen lap race saw the rain just stop before the start but there was water running across the track
in a number of places that made racing almost impossible so we cut the race to ten laps.
The only dry track time the competitors got was in qualifying & Michael coulter took full advantage of the
conditions to put his car on pole with a 1:06.02 but young Greg Willis challenged him all the way for the Pole
spot achieving a 1:06.21.
Third on the grid went to Mitch Quirk doing a 1:07.68 & was outstanding considering that he had never driven
the car before & only got the opportunity an hour before qualifying due to Steve Coulter who owns the car
stepping aside to let the young gun show is ability.
Graham booth didn’t have any wets so after the first race he sat out the rest of the weekend that was
disappointing for him.
Ken Croft missed qualifying due to a gearbox coming loose But managed to compete for the rest of the
weekend without any dramas as it was Kens first race in the GTA car.
Michael Coulter managed to keep the young Greg Willis out two win the two Saturday races but on Sunday in
the trophy race Greg showed the other young gun the rear of his car to win the trophy race.
Our next round is on the 14th 15th of September at Wakefield Park & we are expecting more competitors as
during the last week the phone has been rings asking about the new series.
