8th Grade Band Family Checklist ____ Be sure your student registers for a Band class when high school registration begins. To be guaranteed placement in a band class, have your student select “Band” as their 1st Choice Elective ***Students who are unable to do Marching Band because of Fall sports can still be in the band class! We have numerous students in the band classes who participate in volleyball, cross country, football, and cheerleading! ***Percussionists who do Marching Band are in their own separate class for the school year. 9th Grade Percussionists who aren’t in Marching Band are in the Concert Band class ____ Stay up-to-date with our Band events at DaculaFalconBand.Com Mr. Johns: [email protected] Band Boosters: [email protected] ____ Look out for any High School Band e-mails (will be sent through Ms. Wiley) and for our Marching Band “Letter of Intent” packet in the Spring Anticipated Finances for High School Band ___ Marching Band Fees have historically been $500.00 for new members and $425.00 for returning members. There is a small chance this fee could increase slightly (depending on cost/travel price inflations, etc). ***These fees are made in monthly installments and our boosters are great about working with families of any financial situation. ***Don’t let cost be the reason you don’t sign up your student for Marching Band. We can and will work with you! ___ There is a small fee for students who are in the class only ($50-75) which covers the cost of additional classroom materials, minor instrument repair costs for your student, guest clinicians, and “Large Group Performance Evaluation” registration costs. ____ All families are also responsible for “Concert Attire” costs. This information will be passed out in the Fall semester. 2017 Marching Band Calendar (Marching Band students are expected to be at all events/practices) May 16/18, 4:30-6:30pm – 2017 Marching Band Rehearsal ***This is the perfect opportunity for your student to “Test Drive” Marching Band*** May 16/18, 7-8pm – 2017 Marching Band Parent Meeting (Pick one of the 2 dates) July 11/13, 5-7pm – Summer Music Rehearsal (Woodwinds/Brass/Percussion) July 17-20, 8am-6pm – Percussion Camp (Percussionists Only) – Colorguard Camp TBD July 20, 8am-6pm – Marching Band Rookies (Brass/Woodwinds) July 21, 8am-6pm – Brass/Woodwinds Rehearsal 7pm – Mandatory Marching Band Parent Meeting July 24-28, All Day/Evening (Times TBD) Band Camp! July 31/Aug 1/Aug 3: Post-Camp Rehearsals – 5:30-8p Aug 7th – First Day of the 2017 School Year!! Marching Band Rehearsals are generally every Tues/Thurs and 3-4 selected Mondays from 2:30-5pm until our last contest. In mid-late October, Marching goes to one day a week on Thursdays. Aug 19, 8am-6pm – Saturday Marching Band Rehearsal -Football Games are generally every Friday (on the rare occasion a Saturday) from late August until playoffs are finished -Potential Exhibition/Contest Dates (only three of these days will be booked): Sept 16, Sept 23, Oct 7, Oct 14, Oct 21, Oct 28 An updated calendar will be released with the 2017 Letter of Intent Packet in the Spring
