College for
Summer
Choose TWO courses per student to complete a camp.
Camp cost is $89 per student and includes snacks.
Students may bring a water bottle if they choose.
Camps
Designed to provide fun, hands-on and active learning opportunities for highly motivated and talented students.
ChemKids In this hands-on
chemistry class, students will
perform experiments to help
them understand properties
of matter such as viscosity and
density. Students will work in
teams to build a density column, and they will use
materials that they can find in their own homes, such
as syrup, ketchup, and corn starch to illustrate other
properties of matter. Students will also learn about
what can happen when different chemicals combine
to form mixtures and how the chemicals can create
some unusual results! Put on your scientist goggles
and come have some fun! Instructor:
Stephanie Ballard, Science Instructor,
Campbellsport School District
Sculpting with Paper Wow!
What creative, fun uses for paper! Find out how to make and
use many 3-D paper techniques
to bring exciting dimension
and details to your sculptures:
a mini-amusement park, layered shape collage, a
“junk” robot sculpture, or a BIG textured sandwich!
A highlight will be learning three simple origami
folds to design a colorful paper relief sculpture
with radial symmetry. Impressive! This camp will
also be great for fine-tuning your fine motor skills.
Please bring an art shirt to protect your clothing.
Instructor: Faye Kemnitz, Art Instructor, Faith
Lutheran School
Speak with
Your Hands
Have you ever
wanted to
communicate
without words?
Have you ever wondered about sign
language and what it all means? Do you
know someone who uses sign language
and would like to be able to talk with
them? In this class, you will learn how to
“speak with your hands.” You will learn
beginning sign language by playing fun
games like bingo and charades.
Instructor: Erin Shuttle, Educational
Interpreter, Fond du Lac School District
Un, Deux,
Trois,
Français! Get
ready to speak
some French!
In “Un, Deux,
Trois, Français,” we will explore French
basics like numbers, colors, and short
conversations through a variety of
songs, stories, games, and activities. Instructor: Jessica Birschbach, French
Teacher, Sabish and Woodworth

Cooking the
Continents - North
America

summer. The focus this year for LEAPS
will be North America, featuring Mexico,
Canada, Honduras, Panama, and more.
Did you know that chocolate originated
in Mexico, or that they eat something
called “yucca” in Central America? Taste
some a-maize-ing foods, and find out
more when you take this “trip” to North
America! Instructor: Gina Rieder, Social
Studies Teacher, Sabish Middle School
Blast Off! Why
Do Rockets Fly?
Discover the science
behind flying
rockets. Create and
launch paper rockets, model rockets,
two-liter plastic bottles, and Alka-Seltzer
rockets. Instructor: Judy Schieble,
retired Science Teacher, Sheboygan
Area School District

Fantastic Chemistry In this hands-on chemistry class,
students will perform experiments to help them learn about
the nature of matter. Students will perform numerous
experiments, including experiments to help them figure out
how much acid is in some everyday products such as vinegar,
soda, and juice, and experiments that will illustrate how metals
react with each other and with other chemicals. Students will build
their own conductivity tester to help them tell if chemicals contain
ions, and then they will see how these ions result in the beautiful
colors we see in fireworks. These experiments will provide a SPARK
to your brain and a SHOCK to your system! Instructor: Stephanie
Ballard, Science Instructor, Campbellsport School District
Dare to Draw This class promises oodles of fun when you play
with pencil, pen, ink, charcoal and other materials. You will take
