No More Site Actions SHAREPOINT 2010m Setting Icon on Right Side SHAREPOINT 2013 Disabled Here is what it looks like so you won’t be tempted to peek. “Add an App” Everything is in a SharePoint site is now an app. This includes lists and libraries. Though the actual implementation of lists and libraries has not changed, they are now called apps to create a more unified experience. e.g. if you would like to create a new document library, you need to create an app and pick document library and then name it. Old Ways Site Actions > View All Site Content > Create Site Actions > More Options Site Actions > New Document Library Some of the common “apps” you will add from here are: Document Library Custom List Picture Library Links List Announcements Calendar Discussion Boards Surveys Terminology Change: “Permissions” are now called Sharing. Share on the top of all pages (when logged in) will allow you to give permissions to your whole site. Gives people access to the site. The icon on the list/library ribbon what used to be for permissions still is. It just looks a little different. It will show permissions first then you can “Invite” people from there. Document Management 1) You can now open a list or library (app) and drag a document right into it from your computer. As you drag over, you’ll get a “Drop Here” box. 2) When you open a document, there is now a SHARE button on the menu. You can invite others to edit documents. From the library (app) click to open the document. It will open in Office Web Apps. You’ll see a “SHARE” link on the top menu You’ll get a window that looks list an email window. Select people to share with and add a personal message. 3) Copying and pasting from Word has improved. Now after you paste you will get a “paste options” window where you can choose to bring over the formatting or not. Paste / Paste Clean / Paste Plain Text. You cannot copy and paste images. 4) When viewing your documents in a list you will see 2 dots to the right of the file name. Click the dots to get a call-out window with info about that document. Click the 3 dots at the bottom next to OPEN and SHARE. This is where you go to edit the properties of a file (rename it), check version history, delete the file, and more. Mobile View and Responsive Design Visitors to your sites will now see a mobile view when using phones and tablets. “Hamburger Button”. An expandable menu. Your page will resize and rearrange to accommodate the smaller screen. *Note: Larger tables will not resize Users may have to scroll over. Take a look at your site from your iPhone or Android device to see how it looks. You may want to consider making some changes if things look horrible. BONUS! Sharepoint 2013 has made it easier to add HTML and/or Script to your SharePoint site. There is now a Web Part called “Script Editor”. It’s under the Media and Content category.
