For our grade five students, this is a very exciting time! We know that for some students, moving to middle school can be quite stressful. To help ease this transition, Royal Orchard provides many opportunities for students to learn more about their school. Staff and students from Royal Orchard shall be visiting Westervelts on May 15th and 16th. Our students then have the opportunity to visit Royal Orchard on May 21st and May 28th. If you have questions regarding these visits, please contact your child’s teacher. On Wednesday, June 25th, at 2:20, our students will be hosting a “Moving On” Ceremony. Unlike the more formal occasions that take place at the end of grade twelve, this ceremony provides student and families with a more casual opportunity to recognize this important transition to Middle School. It is not necessary to purchase “dressy” clothes for this event. Raptor’s Day at Westervelts In hopes of helping our Toronto Raptor’s Basketball team defeat the Brooklyn Nets and advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs, Westervelts Corners had a Toronto Raptor’s Day on Friday, May 2. Staff and students proudly wore their red and white, decorated the school and took part in a basketball shoot out! Congratulations to Mr. Jackson, Mrs. Augiton and Mrs. Jindal’s classes for achieving the highest scores in the contest. Unfortunately, the Raptors were eliminated after a extremely close game seven! We are looking forward to cheering the team on again next year in the playoffs! Go Raptors!
