victory in the first game ever played at the Ryan Center. Hellenga poured in a game-high 26 points,
including 5-of-9 from the perimeter, to spark the Rhody win.

Former Rhode Island guard Jim Christian returned to Kingston with his Kent State squad and earned
an 82-63 victory over the Rams. Dustin Hellenga led all scorers with 26 points, while Lazare Adingono
added 14 points.

Brian Woodward’s 16 points led Rhode Island to a 19-point win over instate rival Brown. The Rams led
by as many as 27 points in the second half, capturing the unofficial state championship after downing
Providence two days earlier at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

Before a record crowd of 8,121 (7,571 capacity plus 525 standing-room), Rhode Island dropped an 8771 decision to No. 4 ranked Pittsburgh. Dustin Hellenga led three URI players in double-figures, with
17 points. Dawan Robinson added 14 and Lazare Adingono 11 in the loss.

Rhode Island used a 15-2 run to start the second half, pulling away from Fordham, 75-63, for the
first Atlantic 10 victory in the Ryan Center. Dustin Hellenga had 19 points to lead all scorers. Lazare
Adingono added 18 in the win.
Game eight - another buzzer-beater

Brian Woodward’s steal and layup at the buzzer capped a 7-0 game-ended run, as Rhode Island
topped Saint Joseph’s, 58-57. Woodward missed the potential gamewinner with just two ticks left on
the clock, but stripped the ball and put it back in for the win. He led Rhody with 12 points.
Game ten - high-scoring affair

Brian Woodward’s career-high 30 points helped pace Rhody to the first 90-point game in Ryan Center
history, as the Rams downed St. Bonaventure, 91-85. Woodward also pulled down a career-best 14
rebounds, while connecting on 14-of-19 free throws - still a facility record for FT attempted.
Game fifteen - atlantic 10 tourney thriller

Brian Woodward banked in a 3-pointer with :22 seconds left to tie it and Howard Smith hit a runner
with 1.3 ticks left to give URI a 75-73 win over Duquesne in the opening round of the 2003 Atlantic 10
Championship. Dustin Hellenga led Rhody with 24 points, while Woodward added 19.
Game sixteen - the postseason comes to kingston

The Rams overcame a 17-point second half deficit, thanks to a Dawan Robinson trey with 4.1 seconds
left in regulation, and downed Seton Hall, 61-60, in the first round of the 2003 National Invitation
Tournament. URI outscored SHU, 13-2, to close out the game and was led by Robinson’s 17 points.
Game seventeen - the inaugural season comes to an end

Dustin Hellenga scored 15 points and Brian Woodward added 12 as Rhode Island dropped a 61-53
loss to A-10 rival Temple in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament. Rhody closed out
the first season in the Ryan Center with a 12-5 mark at home.

Despite 14 inches of snow in South County, a capacity crowd of 7,657 witnessed Rhody cruise to an
89-79 victory over Providence in the Friars’ first trip to Kingston since 1972. URI connected on 10-of-14
from beyond the arc and shot 57.1% from the floor. Dustin Hellenga and Dawan Robinson each tallied
26 points in the win, while Brian Woodward added 19.
Game twenty-two - another high-scoring affair

Brian Woodward had 24 points and was a perfect 12-of-12 from the charity stripe as Rhode Island and
Charlotte combined for a then-Ryan Center record 186 points in a 96-90 overtime win for the Rams.
Dawan Robinson canned a 3-pointer to force the extra period and led URI with 31 points.

Rhode Island connected on a Ryan Center record 13-of-18 3-pointers in a 94-56 win over Vermont.
The .722 3-point FG percentage mark stands at the program’s top single-game 3-point proficiency
mark. Dawan Robinson was 5-of-6 from the outside, leading the Rams with 19 points.

Dawan Robinson scored a game-high 24 points to lead Rhode Island to a 68-53 win over Fordham in
Atlantic 10 play. Dustin Hellenga added 13 points and Brian Woodward 10 in the 25th game in Ryan
Center history.

Dawan Robinson’s 12-footer with 1.3 seconds left lifted URI to a 56-54 win over Richmond. The Rams
never trailed in the game but were never able to pull away from the Spiders until the final buzzer.
Robinson ended with 16 points, while Brian Woodward pulled down 12 rebounds.

Playing to a national audience on ESPN2 with Dan Shulman and Hall of Famer Dick Vitale, Rhody
nearly upset No. 2 ranked Saint Joseph’s. Rhody led much of the way, but SJU’s Delonte West canned
a late trey and a free throw to take the lead for good. Dustin Hellenga had 15 points and Jamaal Wise
a double-double (10 pts./10 reb.) for the Rams.

Freshman guard Parfait Bitee connected on 5-of-9 from the outside, scoring a career-high 18 points in
a 73-63 loss to La Salle. Jon Lucky added 13 points and Terrance Mack 12 points and seven boards
for Rhode Island.

Terrance Mack’s 17 point/10 rebound performance helped lead Rhode Island to a 65-60 win over Saint
Joseph’s in a nationally televised contest. Scott Hazelton added 14 points and J.R. Moore 10 as the
Rams handed the Hawks just their second loss in A-10 play. URI won the battle of the boards, 34-25.

A trio of freshmen - Jon Lucky, Parfait Bitee and Will Daniels - combined for 34 points as URI earned
a 65-57 victory over Temple. It was the Rams’ first win over the Owls since the 1999 Atlantic 10
Championship game. Scott Hazelton led all scorers with 22 points.

Rhody’s defense held Brown to just four field goals in the second half, as the Rams pulled away for
a 57-40 victory over the Bears. Will Daniels, Jon Clark and Jamaal Wise each tallied 10 points in the
victory. The 40 points was the lowest point total by a Rhody opponent in Ryan Center history.

- as Rhode Island defeated Providence, 77-69, in the Friars’ second unsuccessful trip to the Ryan

over Quinnipiac. The Philadelphia native hit 14-of-21 from the floor, while also tallying five rebounds
and five assists. Will Daniels added 17 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

Rams past Fordham. Down 42-32, Jimmy Baron kick-started the run by connecting on two 3-pointers.

A Jimmy Baron 3-pointer with 2:00 left broke a 58-58 tie and keyed an 11-4 run to close out a 69-61
victory over Temple. Dawan Robinson and Jamaal Wise combined to score the last eight points of the
game and close out the victory over the Owls. Robinson ended with 19 points and Will Daniels 12.

Rhode Island held its inaugural “Pink Out” at the Ryan Center and earned a 75-72 win over UMass. The
Pink Out - which raised more than $10,000 for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation
- was the first-ever breast cancer charity event to ever be staged with an NCAA Division I men’s
basketball game. Will Daniels led URI with 20 points, while Keith Cothran added 14 off the bench.
