Leg Compression Sleeve

because of the frequent use of these sleeves
for non-medical reasons.
 The specifications match those of arm
compression sleeve.
 They must be white, beige, black or a
single solid school color. The sleeve must
be the same color for each team member and
have only a single manufacturer's logo. The
sleeve must be worn for medical reasons
only.

 Head bands, wristbands, arm and
leg compression sleeves must be
either:

Observe during pre-game and
correct then.
The Head Coach May Enter the

which the scorer's and timer's table
and team benches are located.
 The area shall be bounded by a line
drawn 14 feet from the end line
towards the mid-court.

 The use of proper mechanics and
signals are imperative to the
success of the contest and the
officiating team.
 The signals are a means of
communicating what is happening
on the floor.
 A uniform set of signals enhances
the flow of the contest.
Granting Time-Out
 Officials must be diligent to recognize
the request of a timeout by the coach
and determine that it is at the
appropriate time.
 Officials must know the status of the
ball and whether there is player
control before granting the request.

Guidelines to Enforce Illegal
Contact
 When contact occurs that affects
the rhythm, speed, quickness and
balance (RSQB) of the player,
illegal contact has occurred.
 Illegal contact must be ruled
regardless of time, score and game
situation.

of the offensive or defensive player should be ruled a foul.

Intentional Foul
 An intentional foul is a personal or
technical foul that may or may not be
premeditated and is not based solely on
the severity of the act.
 It is contact that:
• neutralizes an opponent’s obvious
advantageous position.

in the play.
• May be excessive contact.
• Contact that is not necessarily
premeditated or based solely on the
severity of the act.

Excessive Contact
An intentional foul may be strategic to stop the clock or
create a situation that may be tactically done for the team
taking action. They may seem innocent in severity but
without any playing of the ball it should be ruled intentional.

Contact Above Shoulders
A player shall not swing his/her arm(s) or elbow(s) even
without contacting an opponent. Swinging with no
contact = Violation!
Examples of illegal contact above the shoulders and
resulting penalties:
1. Contact with a stationary elbow may be
incidental or a common foul.
2. An elbow in movement but not excessive
should be an intentional foul.
3. A moving elbow that is excessive can be
either an intentional foul or flagrant personal
foul.

Point to the floor with “one” finger to indicate
foot touching “3” point line (i.e. 2 point field
goal is being attempted)

Using the "Tip" signal ONLY for a defensive
player deflecting the ball into the backcourt

Allowing players to wear “Concussion”

V.
Team members are not allowed to congregate
at division line or on school logo during
introductions. Coaches and officials will direct
players to free throw line area in front of
respective benches.
VI.
Captains-Head Coaches-Officials pre-game
meeting should occur from 5 to 10 minutes prior
to start of game. If the head coach refuses to
attend the meeting, notify your Secretary or
Commissioner, who will notify the school Athletic
Director and CIAC.

VII. Coaching Box must be marked. If home
coach and/or home management refuse to
designate unmarked coaching box with tape,
the home team will not be permitted the use of
a coaching box for that game. However, the
visiting team will be allowed the use of a
coaching box. Notify IAABO Secretary or
Commissioner on the next day.
