ELF Box (Fire Safety Resources) – Week Commencing 31st October
The children enjoyed exploring the various resources provided and Dressing Up in the ‘Firemen’ outfits during the week

Parent Consultations – 7th November – 8th November
Thank You for your support. If you were unable to make the parent Consultations this time we will be arranging them
again in the future.
Concept Photography – 18th November
What a success!!!!! The day went smoothly, the photos were great and received in good time for Christmas.
Christmas Story with Georgina – 29th Novenmber
The children sat and listened to Georgina read ‘Hairy McClarey’ and Georgina enjoyed listening to the children practice
singing our Christmas Songs.
Christmas Sing a Long
Thank You for your support during this event it was an enjoyable and memorable experience for all.
Christmas Activity Week
The children enjoyed taking part in many different Craft Activities and games during the week and they all looked
fabulous in their Christmas Costumes and Jumpers.
Thank you for your wonderful support in making a donation to our chosen Charity this year ‘A Siblings Wish’.
Thank you for all your kind donations of Party snacks. The children enjoyed group snack time with their peers
throughout the week.
Parent Helpers
Thank You to Bea Lavington’s and Joshua Chapman’s Mummies for coming in to help throughout the Term. If you would
like to come in to help out please speak to a member of staff to arrange a date.
Snack
Thank you very much for all your kind fruit donations and continuous support when helping us to provide the children
with a variety of Snacks. Please ensure your child contributes at least one piece of fruit per week to enable us to
provide sufficient snack. The children have all benefited from helping to prepare a variety of fruit and vegetables for
snack time, which is only possible with your support!

Sickness
Unfortunately, this time of year brings lots of viruses into Pre-School. Please keep your child at home for the recommended
48 hours in the event of sickness or diarrhoea, or if you think your child may not comfortably last a whole session. Thank
you for your co-operation.
Treasure Boxes
Please can you ensure that anything your child brings in to Pre-School for Show and Tell comes in in a Treasure Box that
is clearly labelled with their name on. We are noticing an increase in toys coming in that are not secure within a Box and
are then broken or misplaced. From January any items that are not in a treasure box will be handed back to you to take
home for safe keeping.
Winter Clothing
As you can appreciate, the weather is extremely unpredictable but we will always be accessing the outside area. Please
provide your child with adequate clothing, jumpers, coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. Reminder to please ensure that your
child is wearing shoes they can take off themselves and put back on, laces are not recommended as an easy shoe for
children to do independently. We do promote independence when dressing and un-dressing themselves getting prepared
for school.
Please help us by clearly labelling all your child’s belongings!!
A box of unnamed items will be displayed outside at collection, so check if anything belongs to you before it is disposed
of at the end of each term.
Remember to clearly label your child’s lunch box and drink, as well as coats and belongings. This is very helpful to staff
as less time is taken looking for children’s belongings prior to play time, lunch time and home time and reduces the risk of
items going missing.
Advanced Notice
We will be CLOSED on Thursday 4th May 2017 for POLLING DAY, as in previous years we offer an alternative day to
those children who attend on that Thursday. We will inform those parents of the alternative date in the near future via
email.
Fee Payments
We appreciate the majority of parents support our current policy but would just like to remind you that fees are due NO
LATER THAN the 1st of each month. Late payments will incur a late charge of £30. Please do not part pay your account as
this causes confusion with the admin.

September 2017 Sessions
Although September 2017 seems like a long time ahead, the spaces are already starting to be filled. Please remember to
register any younger siblings, and remind friends and family to ensure you can be guaranteed sessions starting in
September. If you would like to visit us, please ask a member of staff to arrange a visit. If your child already attends
Abacus and will be returning in September 2017, we will be asking for your choices in January and you will be given priority.

Next Term
Please look at the Medium Term Plan sent via Email and located on the Parent Board to see an outline of next Terms
activities. We will be turning our Role-Play area into a Vets so if you have any photos of your pets or your child’s
favourite animal that you could bring in we will be adding them to this area.
Please remember that our last Pre-school day is Friday 16th December and we return back on Tuesday 3rd of January
2017.
Please note - All staff take annual leave during this time and will not be able to respond to any emails, voicemail
messages or texts. We will however reply to you during our first week back. Please do not use the mobile contact
number.
