Are you a Team Player? Some characteristics that define a team player may include flexibility, reliability, active
listening, a willingness to share, a partiality for learning in order to make things better, and someone who functions
actively and communicates constructively. The most effective team players realize that each person has a role to
play. They go about fulfilling their role on the team and within the organization. The best team players promote the
success of the others. Teamwork is usually viewed as a sense of getting along with other members and working
together on projects. To help put yourself in the eyes of those with whom you work, you may need to work on your
listening skills, volunteering for projects inside and outside of your work area, and keeping your vision on the big
picture.

TIME FOR SUMMER READING PROGRAM REGISTRATION Registration is open for everyone aged 1 – 91 for our
upcoming Summer Reading Program at Kasson Library. Registration sheets are available, or you can register online

TEXTILE RECYCLING Kasson Public Library will have a one day Textile Recycling Collection on Tuesday, May 16,
during regular library hours (10:00 – 6:00). We can take clothing and household items, even those that are torn,
worn, and stained. We cannot take leather, plastic, shoes, purses, pillows, or anything stuffed with down. Donations
should be placed in plastic bags; no boxes. Not quite ready for this month’s collection? Never fear - we are hoping to
schedule another collection day in a couple of months.
“BOOK BUNCH” FUNDRAISING Thank you so much for your generous support of the Bake Sale recently hosted by
the library staff Relay for Life Team. For the next five weeks we will have a Silent Auction item available. The
centerpiece for each auction is a wooden trivet/basket made by Book Bunch member and KPL Director, Art Tiff. The
silent auction is at the circulation desk.
SUMMER KICKOFF PARTY Here at the library we are getting ready to welcome summer and the reading program.
This year we will kick this off with a party. Mark your calendars for Friday, June 9, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The get
together is for all ages. We will have popcorn and play games. Come join the fun!
RUNNER CELEBRATES HIS 5TH BIRTHDAY IN STYLE! Kasson Library’s reading therapy dog, Runner, celebrated his 5th
birthday at Storytime on April 24. There were lots of kids on hand to share his cake and read him stories. We are so
fortunate to have Runner and his owner, Bryten, share Monday evenings with us at the library!
SPECIAL DELIVERY Recently the delivery service brought a few more HUGE crates for us. This time we received a
cube reading pod, a house shaped pod, and wonderfully colorful alphabet area rug. Enjoy these new furnishings in
the Children’s Area.
12 PACK FRIDGE CARTONS The theme of the Summer Reading Program is “Building a Better World.” For one of the
many planned projects we need cardboard Fridge Packs in which pop is packaged. Your donations can be brought to
the library at any time. Watch for construction during the summer….
