AURIA CORE NETWORK
Auria Wireless designs and manufactures digital P25 radio
networks. Auria enables any brand of analogue or digital radio
transceiver to communicate with other users in trunked or
conventional mode from a single site or multiple sites.
analogue networks can be upgraded to digital without the need
for a ‘forklift’ swap out. This reduces your costs for upgrading to a
fully featured digital radio network.
Flexible architecture and open interfaces mean you are not
locked in to one product. You can choose any brand of radio
transceiver or operator console that meets your requirements.
This flexibility allows you to incorporate your existing infrastructure
while migrating to an Auria digital radio network.
Our fully featured digital P25 network is built on open standard
architecture, allowing customers to migrate analogue and/or
digital radios with an Auria network. There’s no need to replace
all your site equipment from one manufacturer - legacy and

P25 Channel Controller and Base Station Configuration
Base station configuration supports up to four channels
(analogue and/or digital) and a base station controller in a one
(1) RU chassis. Additional channel controllers can be linked for
more channels. Low power requirements means less demand
for A/C and site power. In fact, Auria’s base station controller
draws less power than any other product on the market. The
channel controller and base station controller support:
• P25 conventional channels (repeater function)
• Repeater functionality in stand-alone trunked or conventional
mode (fall back)
• Multiple transceiver types and migration from analogue to
digital
• Conventional and trunked P25 data
• Single site or multi-site
• Over the air rekeying (OTAR)
• Analogue FM voice and mixed analogue and P25
conventional operation
• End-to-end encryption
• P25 trunking control & traffic channels
Flexible architecture enables cost effective channel and site
expansion to meet future demands.

protocols. Controls analogue and P25 voting functions.
Local Operations Console
(LOC) >>>
Network Location Register (NLR)
Displays GPS location and
tracking functions on an IP
connected standard Windows
7 PC integrated with Google
Maps. Console users can point
and click on all radios or devices
displayed on the screen to talk,
send messages, see locations,
request status updates, make
group calls and trace location
histories.
Subscriber database stores information of the network’s
registered users and roaming visitors. Web based access to
control, change and manage subscriber information and access.
Data Service Node (DSN)
Allows P25 radios to communicate with SNDCP based data
services over IP. DSN acts as packet router and assigns IP
addresses to each radio.

calls, group calls, status messages, short messages and
supplementary services like stun, kill and retrieve.
Inter Subsystem Interface (ISSI)

data transmission and call setup (trunked & conventional)
between systems.
Inter Subsystem Interface Gateway (ISSIG)
P25 Radio Modem Unit
(RMU) >>>
Manages and controls SCADA/
DNP3 protocol devices using
RS232, IP or I/O ports. UHF and
VHF options available.
Allows users to roam onto other radio networks that are not ISSI
or P25 compliant. Supports call setup (trunked & conventional)
between systems and transcoding from the P25 IMBE/AMBE
voice format.
PSTNG Voice Gateway

RFSS NETWORK CONTROLLER (RNC)
The RNC is a software application running on a standard industrial grade server
with a Linux operating system. The RNC coordinates calls, traffic and roaming by
providing a single point of contact for all subscribers in the network. Call control and
mobility management is achieved using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) messaging,
and floor control is coordinated using Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP).
The RFSS Network Controller communicates with the Network Location Register
(NLR) to manage subscribers.
• Wide area switching and call set-up for analogue, P25 Conventional and
Trunked calls
• Softswitch providing mobility and call management between network elements
within a single RFSS
• IP interface to other network elements using SIP and RTP based protocols
• Overall configuration of RFSS:
• Specific base station site configuration (analogue, Conventional, Trunking)
• Wide area network configuration of virtual analogue, Conventional and Trunking
channels
• User and group registration in conjunction with Network Location Register (NLR)
• Interfaces to other RNCs in a multi-RFSS based system
• Provides wide area PTT arbitration functions
• Multi-site voting control for P25 and analogue calls
• Can be configured for active / standby operation providing machine and site
level redundancy
NETWORK LOCATION REGISTER (NLR)
The Network Location Register contains a central repository of authorised subscriber
profiles and communicates with the RFSS Network Controller to track the location of
mobile subscribers through the network. In addition, the NLR updates its database
with information provided by the Radio Network Controller and interacts with other
radio network controllers to support roaming of non-homed mobiles.
When the system administrator defines or updates a subscriber’s system profile they
can:
• Assign an alias to the subscriber
• Legacy analogue calls
• Restrict what sites a subscriber is allowed to register to
• Clear and encrypted Conventional and Trunked calls (AES/DES)
• Determine if a user can either make non-emergency calls, only emergency
calls or both emergency and non-emergency calls
• Mixed operation, Conventional and Trunked simultaneously
• Fallback mode (local site Trunking) if remote area connectivity is lost

• Radio check; determines if the radio is currently registered with the system
and if so, if it is currently operating within range of the system
