Evaluation Question 3

The Long Game would be a suitable film for mainstream
distribution as it features a wide variety of thriller
conventions. It isn't to hard to understand what is going on,
whilst making the audience guess why some things in the
plot are happening.
Seeing as our film is aimed at 25 to 50 year olds, it would
be important to market the film in many different ways
such as billboards, TV adverts on popular channels such as
ITV and Sky 1 as well as social media advertisement on
Facebook and twitter.
Seeing as our film would be distributed by Paramount
Pictures, The Long Game would probably be distributed in
the popular chain cinemas.

($33 million)
Mainstream films often have a medium to large
production budget (Around £50m to £250m), as
well as big name actors for example Brad Pitt,
Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey (Se7en).
Mainstream films are often marketed towards a
wide global audience and have huge marketing
campaigns to promote their film such as
billboards, television trailers as well as interviews
with the cast and director. These films often have
large special effect spectacles which shows the
large production value.
Independent or Indie Films often have a small
production budget (Around £500,000+), but they
often have up and coming actors instead of the
Hollywood Stars. Independent films are often
marketed towards a very niche market as they
don't have the budget for a global marketing
campaign. They often use Pull advertising such as
social media to market their film. more and more
indie films are using CGI to make the film seem as if
it has a larger budget so they can compete with
the Hollywood spectacles.
Examples of mainstream films include Transformers
(2007, Paramount) and Se7en (1995, New Line
Cinema).
Examples of indie films include Monsters (2010)
