Brain Products Press Release July 2011, Volume 39 The MOVE system: Going wireless has never been simpler! by Pierluigi Castellone engineering The MOVE wireless system is a solution that replaces the existing cables connecting the electrodes and amplifier with wireless-based communication. This solution allows the subject to move freely and makes it ver y suitable for use with a Brain Computer Interface (BCI), neurofeedback and motor learning. Paradigms which cannot be used with standard cabled EEG systems can now be incorporated into day-to-day research, and normal experiments will become more convenient for the par ticipants. The transmitter amplifies and digitizes the incoming raw analogue signal and sends it to the receiver, where the digital data is conver ted back to analogue. Since the amplification factor of the overall system is 1:1, the existing EEG amplifier receives exactly the same data as previously. If the data is not received properly, the receiver unit will send a T TL pulse marker to the amplifier. A fur ther marker is sent when stable and reliable data reception resumes. This feature is extremely useful during the data analysis stage; in the unlikely event of the wireless connection being interrupted during the recording, a user can still determine exactly when the problem occurred. With the MOVE system, there is no risk of damaging the transmitter when the cap is being cleaned. Unlike some of the wireless systems already on the market, the transmitter is not integrated into the cap. Therefore you will not need to change your cap-cleaning routine: simply disconnect the transmitter and clean the cap the way you always have! Each MOVE system is capable of handling 64 channels. However, up to 5 units can be used in the same location. Please note: The MOVE system is intended to be used for research applications only and is not sold, designed or intended to be used as a medical device as defined in EU MOVE Receiver and MOVE Transmitter Directive 93/42/EEC, nor is it intended to be used for other medical applications such as diagnosis or treatment of disease. Brain Products shall not be liable The small, lightweight transmitter box and receiver can be used with vir tually any existing amplifier/electrode combination. www.brainproducts.com for any use other than pure scientific and research applications. The MOVE hardware has been tested and certified as per the relevant EMC and electrical safety standards. A non-medical CE certificate is available on request. page 2 of 14
