Presented by Lawtons Home HealthCare, and with specialist content delivered by our partnering organization Caregivers Nova Scotia, this Retreat will provide unpaid caregivers of persons with neuromuscular disorders an opportunity to relax with peers as well as to learn skills and resources that will aid in their role as caregiver. This event focuses on family time and peer support opportunities, ensuring these are the core of the activities chosen for the weekend. Families enjoy favourite outdoor pursuits such as the “Big Canoe”, fishing dockside, and camp fires each night. Twelve scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00, four in the amount of $2,000.00, two in the amount of $1000.00 are anticipated to be available for the academic year beginning September 2017. Deadline to apply is 4:30 pm on Friday, April 7, 2017. 2017 AMI Robert Pearson Memorial Scholarship campaign The program is open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada with a permanent disability who are currently registered in and returning to a full-time program of study at an accredited Canadian post-secondary college or university. In 2017, AMI will award two $5,000 bursaries to two deserving students with a permanent disability; one from the English community and one from the French. Deadline to apply is April 30, 2017 NEADS National Student Awards Program The NEADS National Student Awards Program is offered to encourage full access to post-secondary education for persons with disabilities, who often have greater barriers to participation in higher education, as well as extra costs because of their disabilities.
