English Example of Paper Design First name P. Last Name1 (first author), Member (or Student Member), IEEE, First name P. Last Name2 (second author) 1 First author’s name of Institution/Department, City, Country 2 Second author’s name of Institution, City, Country Abstract – The paper must be prefaced by the abstract. Main results represented in the paper should be briefly summarized. Times New Roman Bold 9pt is used to write the abstract, the word ‘Abstract’ is written by Times New Roman Bold Italic 9pt. An empty line should follow the abstract (Times New Roman 9pt). Index Terms should be given in the next line (5 words at most). Index Terms – Example, execution, paper. I. INTRODUCTION T HE FIRST letter of the paper text should be typed in a dropped capital in a two line proportion. The first 1-2 words of the text are typed in the uppercase letters starting with the second letter of the first word. The rule of the paper design is the same for English and Russian version. The paper text is typed in Microsoft Word XP/2003/2007 or in OpenOffice.org 3.2 Writer on paper size А4 (210297) by Times New Roman 10 pt. The top margin should be set to 3,0 cm, the bottom margin should be set to 3,0 cm. The left and the right margin should be set to 2,5 cm. The paper text should be divided into two columns. The space between the columns must equal to 0.5 cm. The single interval is used for typing the paper text. The first line indent should equal to 3 mm. The justified alignment should be used in the paper text. The paper text must be divided into sections. The standard section titles (“Introduction”, “Problem Definition”, “Theory”, “Experimental results”, “Discussion of Results”, “Conclusions”) should be used. Other section titles may be used if necessary. The “Introduction” section should contain the overview of literature in relation to the paper subject. The problem definition should follow this overview. The research task should be formulated explicitly. The technicalities should be used for formulation the research task. Theoretical and experimental investigations should be described in the “Theory” and the “Experimental Results” section respectively. All scientific results or part of them are proposed for discussion by the authors in the section “Discussion Results”. From scientific ethical point of view is not allowed to publish another author’s results without the reference to the sources cited. All sections are numbered in the Roman figures. The section title is located in the middle of the column. An uppercase letter (Times New Roman 10 pt) is used for typing the section titles. Each word of the section title should begin with an the uppercase letter (Times New Roman 11pt). The word division is not permitted in the section titles. A period should not be used in the section title. The interval before a section title should be 18 pt. The interval after a section title should be 6 pt. The subsections should be named in alphabet letters. The interval before a subsection should be 12 pt. The interval after a subsection should be 6 pt. Use Times New Roman Italic 10pt for the title of subsections. II. PROBLEM DEFINITION The Paper should begin with the header located in the center of the page and typed in Times New Roman type 24 pt. Each word should begin with an uppercase letter. The header the empty line should be typed in Times New Roman type 24 pt. Author’s names are given in the center of the page as follows: First name P. Last Name. Times New Roman type 11pt is used to type author’s names. If the author (co-author) is a member of the IEEE organization, this information is given after his/her name as follows: Member, IEEE. Times New Roman Italic type 11pt is used to type the IEEE status. The Institution/Department of the authors (coauthors) should be started in the next line. If there are several co-authors working in different Institutions/Departments each Institution/Department should be written with a new line. The digital subscripts are used to indicate the author membership of an institute. Times New Roman 11pt should be used to type the name of the Institution/Department. III. THEORY A. Figure Design All illustrations must be clear and of high quality. Color illustrations may be published if necessary. For this purpose the author should provide these illustrations with more than 300 dpi resolution and in CMYK palette. It is necessary to publish a color illustrations if colors carry some important information. A figure should be grouped, saved as a picture in *.jpg or *.tiff format and then put in the paper text. A figure should be put in the text directly. It is not acceptable to put a figure over the text. If a picture is created with Microsoft Office tools, it is necessary to group and to convert it in *.pdf document. Then a figure picture should be copied from this document to the paper text as a photo using the “Print Screen” key. an empty line (8 pt) before the table. The left alignment should be used within the table. In this case it is not acceptable to use table numbering and table title in Microsoft Excel documents. The correct design of a table copied from a Microsoft Excel document is shown in Table II. Fig. 1. Example of figure design. A figure should be centered in the column. It is not acceptable to put a legend on a figure. Legends are typed in the paper text. Times New Roman 8 pt is used to type legend. It should be centrally aligned (see Fig.1). There is an empty line (6 pt) after a legend. It is acceptable to use only “Fig.” abbreviation for reference to the figure. If a figure size exceed the column width it is necessary to compress a figure size to the column width if possible. If it is not possible because of too large figure size or too fine details it is acceptable to remain a figure unchanged. In this case a figure should be put in one column in the centre of the page. It is acceptable to put all figures at the end of the paper, if the sense of a paper is retained. B. Table Design Tables are numbered in Roman figures in order of their appearance in the text. The word ‘Table’ is typed in uppercase letter. Times New Roman 10pt is used for this purpose. The word ‘Table’ is placed to the middle of the column. The table title is placed in the middle of the next line. The table title should correspond to the table content. Times New Roman 8pt is used for typing the table title. The table title is typed by the uppercase letter. The first letter of each word in the title of table should be typed in Times New Roman 10pt. A number of table columns and rows is reasonable determined by the author. Times New Roman 8pt is used for typing the table content (see Table I). The Table is placed in the middle of the column. There is TABLE II THE PRESET PARAMETERS IN THE SIZE MENU IN MICROSOFT EQUATION 1 OR 2 Full Subscript Sub-subscript Symbol Subsymbol 11 7 6 16 11 There is an empty line (6 pt) after a table. C. Equation Design Equations are typed in MS EQUATION 1 or 2. The preset parameters in the style menu and in the size menu in MS EQUATION 1 or 2 are shown in Table I and II. The left and right alignment should be used for insertion of an equation. An equation should be placed in the centre of the column. For example: A( s) n2 3 A i s(i1) 2 . i0 (1) The equations are numbered in order of their appearance in the text. If there is a reference to an equation such an equation should not be numbered. Number of an equation is typed on the parentheses on the right side of the column. If there is a reference to an equation (1) in the paper text, the number of an equation is typed in the parentheses too. If the size of an equation exceeds the column size, the division of an equation is used. If size of an equation still exceeds the column size, the division of it is necessary to use the supplementary intervening variables and functions having a symbolic representation other than the variables and functions already used in the text. Punctuation marks required to indicate the relationship between an equation and the paper text are typed outside an equation. IV. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS To denote the dimension of physical quantities in the paper it is allowed to use SI units. It is allowed to use off-system units only if it is the common standard of notation in some field of science. Dots are used in numerical intervals of physical quantities instead of hyphen (e.g., 40…50 cm). The symbol ÷ is never used. Dash with blanks is used instead of it. Dash with blanks is used for text dash notation. In addition, it is used for the interval «from – to» indication (e.g., January – February 1992, during 3 – 5 sec., in issues [1] – [3]). Dash without blanks is used to notate of various compositions, interface, dependences, etc. and so on, as well as to combine two surnames (e.g., system Pb– Sn–Te, gas–liquid interface, equation Clausius– Clapeyron). Hyphen without blanks is used in such cases as: γradiation; Professor M.M. Gusev-Lebedev; ‘Alpha-3’ instrument; U-Pb-method; sample 83-4, section 1-1. Hyphen with blanks is never used. Mathematical operators and relation signs (except solidus) are separated from adjacent symbols or numbers except for using such signs for notation of a positive or negative value, increment and decrement, e.g., the boiling temperature precision is ±1.5°C, during ~20 min, ethanol : water = 1 : 1, multiplication factor 200. Abbreviations representing several words are separated by blanks except for abbreviations being in general use (e.g., p.m., a.m., i.e.). An abbreviation used as an adjective is hyphenated (e.g., IR-spectroscopy, LСD-state). V. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS Point is decimal symbol: 5.25. Celsius degree is noted as 5°C rather than 5°. Angular degrees are never omitted: 5° – 10° rather than 5 – 10°; on the figure axes: θ, deg. rather than θ°. A variable dimension is indicated by the comma (e.g. E, kJ/mol). If the authors want to compare their theoretical and experimental results with the previous results it is necessary to make a reference to the paper, in which these results are summarized [1,2]. A source is numbered in the order of citing and the source number is given in square brackets. VI. CONCLUSION The bibliographic list is placed in special unnumbered section typed in Times New Roman 8pt. References should be given in square brackets, the interval between bracket and the following text is set to 5 mm. REFERENCES [1] Bakut P.A., Djulina J.V., Ivantchuk N.A.
