It’s only a short flight from Dar es Salaam to The Selous Game Reserve and in just under an hour you will be
landing on the private airstrip at Beho Beho – one of the finest camps in East Africa. For five days you will
join an amazing group of people - hosts, guides, guests and staff who will make your stay both memorable
and special. The guest ‘bandas’ at Beho Beho are constructed of local stone and thatched in palm leaves, but
just to add that frisson of excitement – one of the walls is totally open to the bush. Most guests just say
“Wow”.

Voted by The Sunday Times as some of the ‘sexiest’ rooms in the world, with king sized beds, star showers
and huge verandahs. The only problem with these rooms is that you do not get enough time to spend in
them. For a day at Beho Beho can be a long one, walking safaris are a speciality, conducted by experienced
armed guides, lake safaris to see hippo and crocodiles and open safari cruisers for game driving, always
stocked with meals or sundowners – you are guaranteed a fantastic game experience in this camp.

As a special treat one night will be spent sleeping in the bush – this will truly be a night to remember. Leaving
the camp ‘on foot’ in the late afternoon allows sufficient time to arrive in ‘camp’ before sundown. Time for a
shower before dinner around the camp fire under the stars – just you and your walking guide host – ever
vigilant of your safety and enjoyment of this wonderful experience. This camp does not do camp beds but a
good night’s sleep could possibly be interrupted by ‘what was that?’ sounds very close by. An early morning
walk and a hearty breakfast complete this experience before returning to camp – on foot of course!

But it is not only the safari element that endears most guests to this safari ’home’, it is the house party
atmosphere and the exceptional hospitality that makes this camp very special. Dinners are a big event
around a family candle lit table where guests and guides discuss the fun of the day in the bush – after dinner
may be spent around the billiards table, or sunk into comfy chairs enjoying a nightcap listening to the
sounds of the bush, or yet another ‘tall’ story.

Take the forty five minute flight back to Dar es Salaam where you will be met and chauffer driven to the
‘chicest’ hotel in town - The Oyster Bay and one of its splendid ocean facing suites. Enjoy a candlelight
dinner recounting the thrills and spills of a fantastic safari to your hosts and fellow travellers.

One of the largest areas of game ‘preservation’ in Africa. At almost 55,000sq kms this reserve is larger than some countries. It is not only the
spectacular wildlife viewing that is attractive about the reserve but the absence of tourism in any large numbers. It is still possible to stay for days
without seeing any other human beings – just wild, wild nature in all her splendour. Elephant and buffalo herds, pods of hippo, prides of lion,
leopard, plains game ( antelope, gazelle, wildebeest and buck) journeys of giraffe, packs of the rare and elusive wild dogs and the even more elusive,
but occasionally sighted, rhinoceros.

Arrive in Dar es Salaam International airport, pass through immigration and customs and be met by our driver who will take you to the domestic
terminal for your onward flight to the Selous. As the small planes to the Selous have baggage restrictions of 15 kgs – it is sensible to pack two bags –
one for safari and one for the island then the ‘island’ bag can be left with the driver to be held at The Oyster Bay until your arrival – but don’t forget
some swimwear for your safari as Beho Beho has a ‘game viewing swimming pool’
The flight to the Selous Game Reserve leaves at 0830 and it takes about one hour until you land at the Beho Beho private airstrip where you will be
met by your hosts and driven the short distance (about five minutes) to Beho Beho one of the finest camps in East Africa.
Beho Beho, owned by the Bailey family for almost forty years, is considered by them to be their home in the bush and whilst they spend very little
time there each year it still reflects their taste for comfort and is very much a private home to be loved and enjoyed.
There is a family of hosts, guides and staff to look after you and to help you explore this wonderfully unspoilt part of natural Africa, in open sided
game driving vehicles, in boats on the nearby Lake Tagalala, and on foot safely guarded and guided by our qualified and vastly experienced walking
guides.
The safari ends with a short flight back to Dar es Salaam where you will be met and chauffeur driven to The Oyster Bay for an overnight stay before
connecting with your departing flight from Dar es Salaam
