Student Government Association Minutes February 14, 2017 Call to Order A Moment of Silence Roll Call Approval of Last Meeting’s Minutes – Moved by Senator McGuffee and seconded by Senator Courville. Guest SpeakersDepartment Headso Joey- R&J: Fliers. Computing Center for Elections- Senator Walker said to look out for fliers that are still up. He also said that all the systems are refreshed for any election voting malfunctions. He also asked his committee to read the Election Code. o Kendrick - Student & Academic: Let’s Talk Warhawks- Senator Jones said he will have a poll to whether we should do Let’s Talk Warhawks or not this week. By show of hands, there will not be Let’s Talk Warhawks this week. He also said that for office hours to look at the feedback we get from Let’s Talk Warhawks to really find out what we can maybe change. o J’lyn- Campus Projects: Mardi Gras Ball Shifts- Senator Henderson told everyone that we have shifts for Mardi Gras promotions all next week. Also, we will need people to help decorate the golf cart. o Ashley- Promotions: Mardi Gras Ball Promotions. Lyceum PromotionSenator Hunter asked everyone to please keep promoting Mardi Gras Ball in person and social media so we can get the word out the best we can. She also said that we will have a week-long of promotions next week for Mardi Gras Ball. She will not be here next week and told everyone that Shelby Carrier will be in charge next week. She also said to help CAB sponsor Lyceum. Treasurer’s Reporto Budget- Treasurer Bordelon said the budget is $159,968.15. o RSO Scholarships- 2 left for April- Treasurer Bordelon said we are booked until April. o New Orleans Trip- Treasurer Bordelon said he will be going to a SGA convention this weekend and will relay what he learns next week. Secretary’s Reporto Office Hours (Wednesday-Tuesday) o Mardi Gras Ball- Secretary Usie told all senators that they must work shifts for Mardi Gras Ball. J’lyn’s committee must work two shifts, and everyone else must work one. If you can work more, that would be appreciated. o Office Hours Work Vice President’s Reporto Lyceum Sponsors- Vice President Belaire asked all senators to see if they know of any businesses that would maybe want to help sponsor Lyceum. The minimum is $500.00, and there is a form to fill out. President’s Reporto Washington D.C.- President Neal told everyone that she got to meet with Senators Kennedy and Cassidy as well as Congressman Abraham. She also got do a Capitol Building tour. She said we are hoping to get more answers with the whole changing of presidents. Advisors Report o Puppy Parade Volunteers- Advisor Jennings said that the parade needs volunteers on February 18th and to let us know. You would need to contact Roxanne Smith, and Laura will forward the email to you. Old Businesso Vote for Chi Alpha- The vote passed Y-29, N-0, A-0. New Business General Discussiono NPHC Week- Senator Mays said NPHC Week started Monday and that there will be events going on all week long.
