Discipline & Conflict Management (Win-Win Discipline) Date: Saturday 22 July 2017 Time: 9 am – 12 noon Venue: Hai Sing Catholic School (SDC Room) Synopsis Parenting can be one of the toughest jobs in the world. Not only do we have to teach our young children right values & behaviour, we also go through a daily struggle of getting them to do things which we see as beneficial but may not be to their liking. When children do not behave according to our “rules”, many parents, usually out of desperation & frustration, would resort to authority & threats to ensure that their young ones behave appropriately. Anger arises & both parent and child may end up in heated conflicts with much regret, resulting in a lose-lose situation. The child loses as he would carry on without heeding his parents’ advice. Parents lose as their relationship with their child becomes strained. Let us think win-win when it comes to discipline. In this workshop, parents would be able to remind themselves of the real purpose of discipline, understand the need to talk to your child in a way that he would be receptive & also pick up effective strategies to manage misbehaviour.
