Terms and Conditions 2016
Party Plan
With two exciting floors of Story World, there is so much for party groups to explore at
Discover. We will set you up in your own private party room, make sure you have everything
you need, then leave you to the fun stuff to make your party one to remember.
With each party booking, we will send you invitations to give out to your guests. We’ll have
decorations and a helium balloon for each child in our party room when you arrive. If you
want to decorate the room further, please feel free to do so. We only ask for you to take your
decorations away with you at the end of your party.
We will provide cups, plates, cutlery and napkins but you must provide your own food, There
are no facilities for heating or chilling food at Discover.
The capacity of the party room is 24 people, which should account for all adults and children
siblings, babes in arms, grandparents, parents of party guests and the birthday child. Our
required ratio of adults to children is a minimum of 1:5. Please do not go over the capacity,
as the parties are determined with the children’s experience in mind, and health and safety
within the building.
Party Schedule and Guests
Available Party time slots – 11.30am – 1.30pm, 1.30pm – 3.30pm, and 2.30pm-4.30pm
Use of your private party room is limited to your chosen two-hour slot.
You can access the Party Room to lay out food, presents and/or decorations 15 minutes
before the start of the party.
You must have left the room in a tidy state and vacated the room 15 minutes after the end of
your two-hour slot, so we can reset the room for the next party group.
For parties, we recommend:




Meet and Greet your guests in the Party Room for 15 minutes.
Roam and explore the Ground Floor Story World & Garden for 45 minutes.
Food & cake in the party room, and maybe open a present or two for 30 minutes.
Visit the First Floor Story World for 30 minutes.
Upon arrival you will be welcomed by a Visitor Services Assistant who will give you a quick
tour and health and safety induction, and will make sure you have everything you need. We
will leave you to enjoy your party in private, but a member of staff will be on call if you need
any assistance.
Booking Process & Fees
For a two hour party the fee is £200; for Annual Members it is £170.
To reserve a party booking, complete the attached form and email it to
[email protected]. When we receive the form, we will contact you to confirm
availability. We will then reserve the party room for you for a week.
To confirm the party, you must pay a £50 deposit within one week of booking. If you do not
pay the deposit within a week, we will have to cancel the reservation.
The remaining fees must be paid at least three weeks before the party date.
The total party fee of £200 must be made in advance; we will send you an invoice to pay via
BACS, or you can make a payment by calling our Bookings line on 0208 536 5555.
Birthday Party Bags are available, at an additional cost of £3.00 each, which include a
variety of treats & toys. As the contents change regularly, please contact us for more
information.
Cancellation Terms
With more than three weeks’ cancellation notice we will refund you 100% of the fees.
With 7 to 21 days’ cancellation notice, we will refund 50% of the fees.
With less than 7 days’ cancellation notice we will not refund any of the fees.
General Information
Outside entertainment (e.g. face painters, clowns, etc.) is not permitted.
Alcohol and smoking at Discover is strictly forbidden; tobacco and alcohol products must not
be consumed under any circumstance.
You must leave the room in a reasonable state of cleanliness and tidiness, removing all of
your equipment and putting all rubbish in the bin provided.
Discover is a safe place of play and learning for young and vulnerable people. As such, we
are committed to providing facilities and activities for individuals and groups in the context of
equal opportunities for all. It is expected that you and your group will not use language or
behaviour which could be construed as discriminatory while in Discover.
You are responsible for any damage done to the building or property of Discover arising from
your actions or the actions of members of your group.
All equipment brought onto the premises by you is at your own risk, and any loss or damage
to such property will be your own responsibility. We provide lockers throughout the building
for you to store your valuables.
