Librarian Role
Mrs Doughty had to leave us sadly due to personal circumstances at the end of the last term. We are looking
for someone to volunteer for 10 hours a week to help run our library, we do need some form of regular, long
term commitment and training will be provided. If anyone is interested or knows of anyone please see Mrs
Anderton.
Oftsed Parent View
We are 3 ½ years overdue, so our re-inspection is imminent. Ofsted do look at the Parent View website in
advance of inspecting schools, it would be great if any parents who have not completed a survey, log on and do
so. I do check weekly to see if the number of responses increases. Currently we have 31, it would be wonderful
over 50 -

Timekeeping
Please can I remind parents that school finishes at 3.05pm for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 and 3.15pm for all other
classes. Last week we had a total of 16 parents ring up to say they were running late! Children do become
anxious if they are the last child to be collected – we appreciate your support with this matter.
No exceptions! – Important Information regarding lunches.
Unfortunately, due to a very small minority of parents who are not paying lunch money and/or their lunch
money arrears, the school has had to take the decision to have a zero tolerance with regards to lunches.
Therefore, if any child comes into school without lunch or has not paid outstanding lunch debts we shall be
contacting the parent by phone/text informing them that they will have to bring in a home packed lunch before
12pm – we appreciate some parents may well be at work & this could prove difficult but the school will be
unable to make any exceptions.
Year 6 SAT Assessments
Year 6 SAT Assessments will take place the week beginning 8th May – ALL Year 6 pupils must be in school,
on time, every day that week.
Out of school club remindersIf you pay After School/Breakfast club fees online please wait for a text reminder before paying. Also

Outdoor Classroom
This year Magdalen gates will again take part in outdoor classroom day. On Thursday 18th May children and
staff will spend the day outside the classroom. Outdoor Classroom Day is a global campaign to celebrate
and inspire learning and play outside the classroom. Last year staff and children took part in exciting
activities such as visiting Mousehold Heath and producing nature prints using sun photography paper. We
expect this year to be just as much fun! If you would like to join in please let you child's class teacher know
any assistance will be appreciated. The day will be a non-uniform day as children will be outside and may
get dirty, please make sure that suitable clothes are worn.
Race for Life
Our school is holding its very own Race for Life event for Cancer Research UK and we’d love every pupil to
take part. We’ll Race for Life at George White Junior Playing Field the afternoon of Tuesday June 20th. The
children will be running different distances to take into account their age group. We will be having a whole
school picnic on the day so packed lunches for all. The children will make a contribution for participating.
E-Safety Internet
We have had to remind a number of older children about internet safety and what is appropriate behaviour
on the internet. We would ask that parents do ensure that sufficient parental controls are in place if pupils
have access to the internet which is not fully supervised.
Parent Support Advisor
Just a reminder that Liz Earnshaw is in school every Monday and Wednesday if parents would like to
have a chat with her about any parenting concerns or struggles. Liz can also be contacted on 07584131367.
Edwards and Blake
Lunchtime has had quite a transformation with our new catering contractor! We will be arranging for
Parents to come and have lunch after May half term. The children are loving the new menu and have
already noticed how much more yummy the food is! http://www.edwardsandblake.co.uk/
Attached to this newsletter is the 3 week order menu for Edwards and Blake’s lunches which we would be
grateful if you would pick, tick and send back to the school office ASAP. Please note they also have a very
delicious packed lunch menu which we are attaching to this newsletter for parents to view. If you find
making your child’s packed lunch a chore every day why not give the new Pick n Mix Edwards & Blakes
packed lunch option a try! Just pick and tick the packed lunch option on the Edwards & Blake menu form.
