This site is within the Port Huron State Game Area.
The river is wide enough this section so that it
provides a good setting for fly fishing or spin cast
fishing with spinners, spawn bags or wax worms
under a bobber. This is mainly a spring fishery but
some steelhead begin to enter the river in the fall
providing opportunities through the winter.

Mill Creek at this site in the Port Huron State
Game Area is a designated Type 4 trout stream.

Species Description
Mill Creek is stocked annually with yearling
steelhead (potamodromus rainbow trout) that
remain in the river for a short time before exiting
the stream to later return as adults. These fish are
often caught between 2 to 10 pounds and
occasionally larger.
Directions to Site
Starting from Port Huron, take I-69 to Wadhams
Road (exit 196) and turn right (north) on Wadhams
Road. The road will curve to the left and as it does
it will actually change names to Vincent Road.
Take Vincent Road to Beard Road (M-136) and
turn left (northwest). Take Beard Road to the Old
Ford Road pull off location. This location is just
west of Gilshaw Drain and is a dirt pull off.
