‘CLYDE’ – A FUN MASCOT FOR
COMMONWEALTH GAMES!
A thistle man named ‘Clyde’ has been revealed as the official Mascot of the
Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The mascot, was been named after the river which flows through the host city,
was been designed by Beth Gilmour, (12) from North Lanarkshire.
Games organiser, Glasgow 2014, said Beth’s design was chosen “for its
Scottish symbolism and Glaswegian Charm and likeability”.
PE teacher, Mr Turner from Bellahouston Academy said to BBC News School
report: “Hopefully Clyde will help to make the Commonwealth Games in 2014,
the best games ever.
