DESCRIPTION OF IED UNIT ROLES
Program Planning and School Support Unit (PPSSU)
The Program Planning and School Support Unit has responsibility for planning the provision
of international programs and support for schools involved in Divisional programs. This
responsibility is shared with the Office for Government School Education Regional offices.
The unit supports the process of school accreditation against quality standards which
recognise school performance capability as well as an emphasis on student welfare.
International Student Recruitment Unit (ISRU)
The International Student Recruitment Unit has responsibility for managing the recruitment,
enrolment and placement of international, full fee paying students into Victorian Government
schools. This includes contract management and liaison with off-shore agents. The unit is
also responsible for national liaison on matters relating to the Commonwealth’s Education
Services for Overseas Students Act 2000.
Operations and Program Development Unit (OPDU)
The Operations and Program Development Unit co-ordinates a strategic approach towards
marketing all programs offered across the Division. The unit also coordinates new program
development, Ministerial overseas visits and special events. Business operations, including
divisional finance, personnel and IT resources are managed by this unit.
International Cooperation and Study Tours Unit (ICSTU)
The International Cooperation and Study Tours Unit supports government to government
linkages and co-operation agreements. As well, it manages programs to support teacher
exchange and mobility, and short term international student and educator study tours.
International Policy and Coordination Unit (IPCU)
The Policy Development and Coordination Unit has responsibility for the development of
strategic policy in relation to internationalising school education. The unit commissions and
manages research activity that provides evidence to inform future internationalising
education policy and practices.
