Recap!... We had an amazing time during game night and congrats to Team
Wata for taking home first place. Pastor Paul and I haven’t forgotten about
you, you will receive your award.
A huge shout out and thank you to Celestine’s older sister Rebecca and her
friends for setting up a special college workshop presentation during Friday
service on October 21st. It was great for the youth members to understand the
importance of being prepared for the future.
This is what’s going down
Friday service!... Our next game night is on November 4th at 7:30pm
to 9:00pm. Dinner will be provided. Remember to thank the parents
that are preparing your Friday meals. You don’t want to miss game
+night next week because it’s a great time for fellowship and fun.
On November 18th we will be having a joint family service. So I
encourage everyone to come out and let’s worship our God together
as one family and one community. Let’s show the church and God
that the Youth is strong and committed to growth.
Hallelujah Night!... Come out to Hallelujah Night this Monday from
5:30pm to 9pm! We will be having service as well as many fun game,
activities, and of course candy. Don’t forget to invite your friends,
especially if they don’t go to church!
Save the date!..... Winter Retreat 2016 (Identity)
Winter Retreat will be on December 20-23 at the Palomar Christian
Conference Center. The theme for this winter retreat is no “No
Greater Love”. Please visit 4christmission.org and register online
ASAP. It’s important that everyone attends this Retreat because this
is your chance to encounter Jesus Christ and be empowered and
equipped to live out your daily life for Jesus Christ.
Fundraising…. Give some suggestions on our next fundraising
event, what should we make and give out.
Looking ahead
Last Friday during the college workshop we learned how we can
prepare ourselves for the future. It’s important to get good grades
in school, get high scores on our SATs, ACT, AP and to participate
in extra curricular activities. It can sound stressful at times and we
may feel overwhelmed, but remember to always look to God for
guidance and strength. “I can do all this through him who give me
strength.” (Philippians 4:13) Stay focused and be prepared for the
future, but always remember that God is with us.
Identity… I remember watching an episode on Spongebob where
he shares a story on how he lost his identity, only to realize that he
wore his clothes on backwards. As Christians we need to know
our own identity, do we consider ourselves saved or not. Are we
making the effort to walk with God? No matter where you are, we
are always going to be part of God’s family because God loves us.
No Greater Love exists in this world than God’s love for us. God
deserves our love, our praise and our faith. So let’s walk together
as one family and figure out, our own identity. So I encourage and
challenge you to have a time a prayer when you first arrive on
Sunday and please come out on Fridays if you can. Also don’t
forget about the Winter Retreat. Pastor Paul and I are really
excited to see what God has in store for NLOC Youth. Let’s think
of a name for Youth Group, let’s figure out this Youth Group’s
identity.
Peace be with you, Pastor Jay and Pastor Paul
