Inter School Competitions 2014 - 2015

Raising the profile of Competitive Sports using the Sports Premium –
Inter School Competitions 2014 - 2015
Following the success of The London 2012 Olympic Games, the Government is determined to ensure a lasting legacy from ‘The
Games’. Developing an enjoyment of sport and physical activity, together with promoting active healthy lifestyles in children, are
aspects of this. To this effect, the Government is providing additional funding for the academic years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 to
improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The money is provided by the Departments for Education,
Health and Culture, Media and Sport and can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
Roundthorn Primary Academy actively participates in a wide range of sporting events and competitions as part of West Oldham
Primary School Sport. The school provides opportunities for all children throughout the year in key Stage 2 to participate in at least
one sporting event or competition and aims to provide at least 50% of key stage 1 children.
Since September 2014 Roundthorn has participated in:
Sports Premium used to:
*Provide high quality curriculum PE delivered in partnership with Sports Development

*Improve community cohesion and sporting excellence.
