What other expenses are there besides participation fees?
Additional expenses will include: tournament entry fees, coach travel costs and personal travel and transportation
expenses. The number of tournaments each team plays in will determine the additional costs of travel and entry fee.
Tournament entry fees and coach travel fees will be divided by the ten members of each team. For example: a $350 entry
fee for a 10 member team would require each player pay $35 for entry into that tournament. If a team plays in 8
tournaments, each family would pay an additional $280 total for entry fee under this scenario. Coach’s expenses are paid
for in the same way. If a coach’s travel expenses for two tournaments is $300.00 total, each player (10 players on a team)
would be responsible for an additional $30.00 that month. This “pay as you play” system is in place to be fair to the teams
that travel less, but were paying the same overall fee.
When will teams be selected ? How many players on each team ?
Team selections for the National teams will be made by November 9. Payment 1 will be due by December 10. Regional
teams will have a separate tryout after National teams have been chosen. Players that are cut from National tryouts can
tryout for Regional teams if they choose. No team will consist of more than 10 players.
When is the first practice ?
National Elite teams will have the opportunity to practice in late November and all of December with their teams prior to
the Holiday season. Regular practice for all other National teams will begin Thursday, January 3, 2013 and Regional
teams will begin the week of January 7th.
When and where will the team’s practice ?
The National teams will practice Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 4pm-10pm (teams in 2 hour blocks) utilizing the 5 courts
at KBA. The specific times for each team will be determined after tryouts and the number of teams in each age group is
finalized. The Regional teams will practice at Lexington Ice Center, but some could also practice at KBA. The ShortSeason teams will practice at Lexington Christian High School. The Youth Training Team and LUV Bugs will practice at
KBA. Once tryouts are concluded, practices days and times will be set in stone.
What kind of apparel package do we receive ?
Asics will be the apparel provider for LUV. Asics is one of the oldest volleyball apparel companies in the world and have
been involved with Munciana for over 20 years. They provide the best volleyball-specific clothing and shoes in the
business and will be a great asset to our club’s growth. National team players will receive an extensive package including
uniforms, spandex, kneepads, warm-up jacket, backpack and shoes. Regional and Short Season programs will receive a
basic uniform package. The LUV Bugs and Youth Training Team will receive a t-shirt.
Who are the coaches ?
LUV will provide the best coaching in Central Kentucky with the goal being elite fundamental training, developing an
aggressive and intelligent playing method, learning to be competitive athletes and constantly enabling the athlete to
achieve at higher levels. LUV coaches will run intense, up-tempo practices maximizing quality touches and constant
improvement. Coaches will be demanding, yet encouraging and positive--creating a confident and trusting environment
in which the teams and individuals can perform at their very best. Specific coaching assignments will be determined well
before tryouts in November.
How far will teams have to travel ?
Most tournaments will be within 1-3 hrs of travel time. Louisville, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Muncie, IN, and of course,
locally in Lexington are examples of the places hosting tournaments that LUV will compete in. Some of these
tournaments will require a hotel night stay, but most will not. All National Elite teams and some National teams will play
at AAU’s in Orlando which will require more extensive travel costs. Fundraising opportunities to defray costs will be
available for those teams.
