Professor Jamie Rossjohn FAA FLSW Current Organisation Administering Organisation Discipline Area Monash University Monash University Biological Sciences and Biotechnology Fellowship project summary: A molecular investigation into immune function (FL160100049) The project aims to understand how key immune recognition events enable immunity. This project would use a multidisciplinary approach empowered by technological innovations, including the latest advances in atomic and molecular imaging. This research is expected to identify new approaches for the biotechnology industry. Australian Research Council funding: $2,915,738 About Professor Rossjohn FAA FLSW Professor Rossjohn is recognised for his contributions to understanding the function and dysfunction of the immune system. Namely, Professor Rossjohn has provided profound insight into T-cell biology. He has used structural biology to explain T-cell development, and how the T-cell receptor combats viruses, causes autoimmunity, drug and food hypersensitivities. He has pioneered our understanding of lipid-based immunity by T-cells and recently showed how vitamin B metabolites represent an entirely new and important target for the immune system. Collectively he has published over 300 research papers in the field. Find out more about Professor Rossjohn and his research by visiting his profile page on the Monash University website.
