EXPRESS ENTRY TIPS 1. Linking Express Entry Applications a) Log into your Representative account on the CIC portal. b) Click on Access Representative Queue. c) Choose Link application to this account. d) Fill in the information exactly as it was entered on the application form. e) Complete the information and then select Search for my application. 2. Delinking Express Entry Applications a) The client must log into their MyCIC account on the CIC portal. 2 – Client clicks on Link application to this account button. 3. Identifying dependents who are already Canadians (permanent residents or citizens) When a candidate completes an Express Entry profile and submits an application for permanent residence, all family members must be listed, including those who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. But these Canadian citizen and permanent resident family members are not required to undergo medical exams, submit police certificates or pay fees as part of an application for permanent residence. However, if the client is incorrectly prompted to provide supporting documents, they should simply upload a letter of explanation in the corresponding fields for their Canadian citizen or permanent resident family members. Your client should also provide proof of their Canadian or permanent resident status (e.g., birth certificate if born in Canada, PR card; note that a Canadian passport is not proof of Canadian citizenship). In other words, the applicant must complete the fields of personal information and contact history as requested by the application for any Canadian citizen and permanent resident family member. Where possible, they should indicate Canadian Citizen or permanent resident. For the personal history section, please select “Unemployed” and indicate the dates as the dates for the whole 10 year period (i.e. current date minus 10 years to current date). Specifically on the fees, to avoid triggering the system for fees. Applicants must answer “NO” the questions “ will this person accompany you to Canada” for spouse and / or dependants (see screenshot below) 4. How quickly should the portal recalculate CRS points after edits? Recalculation should be completed almost instantly when the changes are recorded properly. Please advise us of any recalculation that takes more the 48 hours to update using the Immigration Representative’s Mailbox, and we will investigate the issue further. Be sure to include screenshots of the changes done, as well as the date and time it was submitted through the Portal and demonstration that the changes were recorded properly (i.e. that the candidate proceeded with the electronic signature steps as shown below). a) Choose the file b) Upload the file c) Click “Return to your documents” button d) You need to click ‘next’ and proceed through the Declaration and Electronic signature again for the submission to be completed. e) Once you do so, you will see that the item has been provided and no further action is required on your part. 5. How does one answer the marital status questions when they have separated from their spouse? If separated spouse’s information is entered, then the next question and answers are as follows (at this time): “How did this relationship end?” 1. annulment 2. divorce 3. death 4. end of partnership – select this for a marital separation 6. Travel dates require year, month, and day, and this is not expected to change. Days are required to establish if a candidate has spent 6 months or more in one country, which triggers the need to submit a police certificate for that country. 7. What should an applicant do if they cannot provide a police clearance certificate because the foreign government is processing requests slowly or requires an IRCC request letter. When police certificate requests must be initiated by IRCC or there is a delay in obtaining a police certificate, the client should upload a letter of explanation outlining the situation. 8. Why does information disappear after being entered into the profile or electronic Application for Permanent Residence? The user has likely either a) clicked on the Start Again button; or, b) entered more than 30 entries. Additional information entered in excess of 30 lines will not be saved or retained by the system and will be lost. Please include additional entries that exceed 30 in an Addendum and upload this document in the Optional Document field. 9. Why does the Case Specific Enquiry not receive attachments even though the user believes they included them? The user might have failed to comply with one of the following: a) they selected the document but did not take the second step of uploading it; and/or, b) they did not comply with file size and format requirements: a. 4MB or less b. TIFF, JPEG, DOC, DOCX, PDF 10. Which documents does IRCC accept via the Case Specific Enquiry? Only complete applications must be submitted. Therefore, no additional documents should be added via the Case Specific Enquiry Webform unless related to a change of circumstances. A change in circumstances is defined as a change in family composition/configuration (marriage/divorce/birth/adoption), change of address, change in occupation, change of Representative. IRCC has made it clear that Medical results are needed for an application to be considered complete. IRCC is being facilitative in accepting previously issued Medical results, however, the onus is on the applicant to make sure that their Medicals have sufficient validity to allow them to land in Canada after a six months processing time Once received by the CSE team, requests are triaged to the appropriate office and matched to the appropriate file. The service standard is 10 business days to triage to the appropriate office. The office then has 20 business days to match to the appropriate file and action.
