Thanks! 2 Dear Parent, The Red Bluff Youth Football Board of Directors would like to thank you for signing your athlete up for football or cheerleading. It is our goal to provide you and your family with a positive and memorable experience. As we get set to start the 2017 season, please make it a point to read through the enclosed information as there are some very important issues touched on in this packet. Some things have changed since last year and we want everyone to be up to speed on those changes. Thank you, Red Bluff Youth Football Board of Directors 3 RBYF Rules 1. RESPECT. All players, cheerleaders, coaches, board members, parents and spectators will treat everyone with RESPECT. Failure to follow this simple rule will result in disciplinary actions not limited to removal from the RBYF program. 2. All football players and cheerleaders must be on time arriving to practice and games. Tardiness will result in disciplinary actions determined by the head coach (i.e. running laps, dirty 300’s, loss of playing time, etc). Repeated violations will result in dismissal from the team. 3. Parents must be on time when picking up children from practice or games. 4. All children involved in RBYF are strongly encouraged to maintain a "C" average in school. It is the parents’ decision to pull their child if they feel that participation in our program is interfering with school work. Competitive levels may be subject to grade checks at the discretion of the head coach. 5. All football players and cheerleaders shall participate unless disciplinary measures are necessary wherein a player or cheerleader may be benched for a particular amount of time. The head coach will decide who participates when, and at what position. 6. All complaints must be channeled through the team head coach or an RBYF board member. Parents shall not approach coaches with negative comments or complaints, refer to rule #1. 7. All major discipline problems shall be handled in a private conference between the head coach, director at large, parent and youth when practice or game is complete. All minor discipline problems will be handled by the coaching staff. 8. All football players and cheerleaders shall exhibit good manners and a positive attitude on and off of the field. Any unruly conduct shall result in immediate dismissal from the team. Refer to rule #1. Remember, your athletes represent their team, their community and you. 9. All parents, family members and friends are welcome at practices. Spectators are required to sit in the top five rows of the bleachers or along the top of the hill on the bleacher side of the field. Please do not go down any closer to the field as it disrupts practice. No one without proper clearance is allowed on the field during practice, per NorCalFed rules. 10. Pets are not allowed at any RBYF/NorCalFed event, per NorCalFed rules. Violators will have to leave. 11. No football player or cheerleader is allowed to have food or gum during practice or a game. 12. Parents who bring their non-playing children with them to practice are encouraged to do so. If you choose to bring non-playing children, they are your responsibility. Make sure they are properly supervised. Remember, no bikes, skateboards, scooters, etc. Please keep children from playing on the hillside on either end of the main bleachers. 13. There is no tobacco use of any kind permitted at any RBYF/NCF function. 14. Alcohol is not permitted on school grounds or at any RBYF game or practice. 4 15. The use of profanity or words that are used to belittle or demean someone will not be tolerated, refer to rule #1. 16. These rules are set so that everyone involved is treated with respect so that a "family atmosphere" develops. In the event that someone does not follow the rules, they will be disciplined at the discretion of the head coach or Board of Directors. If there are any questions about the rules please contact a board member. All of the rules are in place for our children's safety. Thank you for your cooperation. Facility Usage It is vital that appropriate behavior is used when utilizing any and all facilities. We all must follow the rules set forth by NorCalFed, RBYF and any facility hosting a RBYF function. Not abiding by the rules will lead to negative results, including significant liability. Play is restricted to the planned activity, both at practice and on game days. No other games should take place at this time (no "pick-up games" of football before practice). No bikes, skateboards, scooters, etc. are allowed on the Red Bluff High School campus. RBHS is also a tobacco free campus; no tobacco of any kind is allowed. This rule also applies to all RBYF/NorCalFed functions involving children. Alcohol is obviously not permitted at RBHS or at any RBYF/NorCalFed function involving children, violators will have to leave. It is essential that we all work together to establish responsible and safe behavior. On practice nights the high school campus will close immediately following practice. You need to be on time picking up your child/children. On game days the RBHS campus does not open until 7:00am. No one is allowed on campus prior to the campus opening. Do not arrive early to claim seats, anything found intended to save seats (canopies, tarps, blankets, cushions, etc.) prior to the opening of campus will be removed. The campus will close at the discretion of the RBYF board of directors. Everyone must leave at this time. Make sure to be responsible and clean up after yourselves. It is imperative that everyone involved in our program respect the rules set by RBYF, NorCalFed, RBHS and anyone else gracious enough to allow us to utilize their facilities. Water, Water, Water and MORE WATER! When temperatures rise the way they do in Red Bluff, we need to think about dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and so on. Players should be taking in water over the course of the day. Not just drink a couple of glasses right before practice. RBYF cannot emphasize enough, the importance of having a sufficient amount of water for practice and games. Your child will be given several water breaks through out practices so make sure you supply plenty of water. If your child does not have a water bottle, they may not practice. We are only looking out for the safety of the children. As much as we encourage drinking water throughout the day, we ask that children do not swim within two hours prior to the start of practice. We know that in the heat of summer this is a lot to ask of a child but it really is in their best interest. Swimming is very tiring and can make for a difficult practice. The chlorine in pools along with the sun will cause dehydration. 5 Practice Schedule To start the season, our Jr. Peewees, Peewees, Jr. Midgets and Midgets will all practice 5 days a week, 2 hours a day 6pm - 8pm. After the first game of the season we will start our reduced practice schedule. Practices will be 3 days a week (Tues. - Thurs.), 2 hours a day 6pm - 8pm. Our Mighty Mites will only practice 3 days a week (Tues - Thurs.), 1 1/2 hours a day 6pm - 7:30pm for the entire season. All practices will be held at Red Bluff High School unless otherwise notified. The first week of practice will be strictly conditioning, there will be no contact for football or stunting for cheer during this time. All players and cheerleaders at the Jr. Peewee level and up must have a minimum of 10 hours of conditioning before any hitting or stunting can take place. Mighty Mites must have a minimum of 4 1/2 hours of conditioning. You must be on time when dropping your child off to practice and picking your child up from practice. Playing Time There are rules in place regarding the amount of playing time that each child gets. These rules are set by NorCalFed and are referred to as MPR or minimum play rule. Details about the MPR can be found in the NCF rule book which is posted on the NCF website. Your child may have playing time taken away as a disciplinary action. Unexcused absences will result in the loss of playing time as well. One unexcused absence equals two plays. If you cannot make it to practice, call the head coach ahead of time to notify them of the absence…NO EXCUSES. Game Times Most of our games will be played on Saturdays, in the event of a scheduling conflict it is possible that a game may need to be played on a Sunday. Your child is expected to attend all games. Our home games will be held at Red Bluff High unless otherwise notified. The home game start times will be Mighty Mites – 10:30 a.m., Jr. Pee Wees – 12:00 p.m., Pee Wees – 2:00 p.m., Jr. Midgets – 4:00 p.m. and Midgets -6:00 p.m. All game times are subject to change. The away game start times are determined by the host teams. Check with your coach or advisor for game day check-in times. Generally your coach or advisor will want all players or cheerleaders to check-in by half-time of the previous game. It is ultimately the coach or advisor’s decision so be sure to find out ahead of time. Fundraising All participants will be required to sell $100.00 in Jamboree tickets and Round Table cards (each child to sell 5, $5.00 cards) and turn that money in to the association prior to receiving a helmet or taking the cheer field. We will be arranging for multiple fundraising opportunities including car washes, jerky, Nature’s Vision products (cheer – to offset uniform costs), and more! Watch our website for participation information!! 6 Worker Bond/Equipment Deposit Info. At sign-ups you paid a $50 work bond/equipment deposit for each child participating in our program. This work bond is refundable after you have fulfilled your required work time and returned all RBYF equipment in good condition. Our program will not run without parent help! We ask that parents work two, two hour shifts per participating child. If parents do not do their part and work their time we would have to pay someone to fill that position, in turn we would be forced to increase the fees to participate in RBYF. Everything we do in this program is intended to make football and cheerleading a positive and memorable experience for all. Please do your part to help us achieve that goal. There are several different positions that need to be filled throughout the season. Please sign up to work your preferred times at www.signupgenius.com and search for Red Bluff Jr. Spartans. You do not have to work during your child's game. We prefer that you work the game before or after, it's your preference. Please contact a board member for assistance if you have questions. If you fail to fulfill your required work time, your child will lose his/her veteran status for the following season. Insurance If your child is injured on the field during a game or practice you will need to take that child to the emergency room or your physician for an examination. If you have health insurance you will need to give the ER or physician your insurance information. RBYF has an insurance policy through NorCalFed that is secondary to your health insurance policy. Our policy only covers what yours does not. Our policy does not pay your deductible or co-pay. Our policy has a deductible that will be outlined by NorCal Fed as soon as this year’s policy is established. If you take your child to see a physician for a football or cheer injury, make sure you get a note from the physician releasing your child to play football or to cheer. The release must say "okay to participate in full contact football" or "okay to participate in cheerleading". Please make that very clear to the physician. If you need an insurance claim form, please contact the RBYF President or Secretary. RBYF REFUND POLICY If for any reason you decide that your child will not be continuing in the RBYF program, you may be eligible for a refund of your registration fees. The work bond is non-refundable, but may be worked off during the season for reimbursement. The RBYF Refund Policy is as follows: 100% prior to June 1, 2017 50% after June 1, 2017, but prior to our first practice on July 24, 2017 0% after practice has begun The refund will be for registration fees and work bonds only. There are no refunds for cheer uniforms once the uniform is ordered. 7 Football Equipment Replacement Costs Game pants, home jerseys and away jerseys will be provided by the Association for use and return at the end of the season. Players will be provided with a mouth piece, but any additional or replacement mouth pieces will be the responsibility of the parent. Players may be required to purchase a girdle at an additional cost. RBYF provides all football players with the necessary safety equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, thigh pads, knee pads, butt pad and hip pads). All of these items are loaned to the player and are to be given back to RBYF at the end of the season or when asked for, whichever comes first. All equipment is to be returned in the same condition as when issued, with the exception of normal wear and tear. Parents will be held responsible for any cleaning, lost or damaged equipment. You will be charged to replace the damaged equipment according to the price list below. Helmet - $180.00 Shoulder Pads - $160.00 Black Jersey - $100.00 White Jersey - $100.00 Game Pants - $40.00 Practice jerseys must be white with the player’s last name printed on the back in dark green print.
